Good food, good ambience, value for money. The only thing wrong with our visit was the staff were overworked and one more serving person would have prevented delays. However the food compensated with a great menu and we all enjoyed our selections. Recommended

We ended up in Twizel because Mt. Cook was full. Lovely little town with decent places to eat (Poppies!) and gorgeous views of the mountains. Hotel looked OK on the outside but was really outdated. The rooms were circa 1950. Rooms were clean, however. So if you're stuck, it's an option. Also would recommend the LOTR tour and biplane flight.... More

We tried the hot stone beef grill. Interesting experience. Definitely worth trying during your stay at Tekapo.

Hotel is old and without really anything that calls your attention. Ok for one night stay like if you are skiing or passing through. One thing that is good is that the beds have electric blankets!

We arrived at not even 6pm in mid winter to be told the only dinner options they had available without a booking were bar tables! Fine by us. The service was good, the food was lovely. Would recommend.

We ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant during our visit to Twizel. Both meals were self serve buffet style. For the dinner meal they had a carving station with excellent roasted lamb, pork and beef. For both meals they had a very nice variety of side dishes that we well prepared, including some unique New Zealand style dishes. For... More

Busy restaurant with several Tour Parties in but they are obviously geared up for this. Staff were helpful and pleasant and the food was nicely presented and good.

We stayed here over night and made reservations at this restaurant. You could order off the menu or from the buffet. Some of us had the buffet which had 3 types of meat, beef, lamb or pork. A salad bar and a desert bar, all for 39.00. Staff was friendly seated us quickly.

So it's not the most salubrious of hotels but then again what do you expect. The rooms are functional and clean but nothing fancy and I can't comment on the food as we didn't eat here. The reception staff were friendly however I found it very strange that there seemed to be a hotel cat wondering around - not my... More
