CRANKY-T CAFE AND BAR, Phonsavan

Sometimes it feels like a lot of Lao people don't understand how good their coffee is. That they should not be burying this delicious joe under condensed milk, whipped cream and other distractions. Thankfully there is Cranky-T. I was hardly expecting to find this little...joint in Phonsavan. It nails everything I love about my favorite cafes back in the USA: inviting atmosphere, appealing menu, and most of all coffee that has the kick-start quality of rocket fuel to power a long day of sightseeing. The woman who runs it may be the eponymous Cranky, but I was too chicken to ask. She's colorful and fun. I'm more mellow on the food. The wine selection was above average for Laos and the mulberry martini was unique. The Korean chicken was tasty but not mind-blowing. Yo...it's a coffee shop. Be cool, enjoy and keep it moving.More

A really great place to eat

We had dinner here twice and really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and drinks. The service was great and there was a very good atmosphere. Recommended

Ate at the airport branch ...

The airport branch was outside the terminal and alfresco. As it was winter when I was there, it was cold. Ordered a coffee, which was hot and tasty, hence, much appreciated. Also, occupied a good 30-minutes in an otherwise, nothing-to-do airport terminal.

Great coffee

Good place to sit and watch the people and life walk by. Don't be surprised to see a few foreign soldiers come and have a coffee. Breakfast is the deal. Good selection of pastries as well. Seems like a place you can sit and catch...up with other travellers and get info on your next destination.More

Lunch place

The serve a decent cup of coffe , and the have some breakfast/ lunch options, you will be served both inside or outsider.the also had some inners options which we nerver tried.

Good coffee

I had a quick visit at Cranky-T to have a sip of coffee and some pancakes. The coffee was lovely, pancakes - OK, looked greaton the plate but the taste was.. OK, nothing extraordinary. As far as I know it's the only proper cafe in...Phonesavan, definitely recommended.More

Very Average breakfast

Went for the 40,000 breakfast Had the banana crepes - looked good but they came out cold and they forgot the honey - the banana pancakes come out hot but undercooked in places - did get the honey for this dish - coffee just so...soMore

Dear customer, We must apologize for the cold crepes. Xiengkhouang is known for its cooler climate, therefore, food tends to get cold if it's just sitting there and not eaten right away. Another thing, the Nutella banana crepes, come with bananas and Nutella, not honey....More

A go to place all times of the day...

Cranky-T is our place for morning lattes, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Services is not always that good, but the food and atmosphere make up for this. It is ideal for working quietly or having social time with friends. Give it a try...More
