We love Chiang Mai. We love Thai food, and it's our default Thai restaurant. It's easy to find (on King Street), and, though their lot is small, you can usually find street parking fairly easily. The interior is quiet and comfortable, not loud or excessively kitschy. Our favorite dishes are the soft-shell crab panang (I salivate just thinking about it),... More

Stopped for take out based on advice. Three dishes, basic stuff, cost $53.60. I tipped 15%, and decided I wanted and extra pint of rice. Another bill for $2.10. Food better be spectacular b/c I am not a happy customer. Plus, the place is empty, the website is totally wrong regarding hours once you get it translate to English..

Haven't dined at Chiang Mai in many, many years but a friend treated us to lunch here today and wow, the food is just as good as I remembered! We had Green Papaya Salad, Stuffed Chicken Wings (better than other Thai restaurants!), Beef Pad Thai, Seafood Tom Yum Soup (this had a lot of seafood!), and Sticky Rice. We came... More

I love Thai food, however my husband was not so sure that he would. He finally said yes and now he loves Chiang Mai ONLY. We have tried different items on the menu. So far the green curry (outstanding), garlic beef (it was just okay), seafood platter #32 (outstanding), papaya salad (wonderful) and tofu with eggplant (yummy). Looking forward to... More

Sunday early evening dinner made easy after enjoying Hawaii Opera Theater's phenomenal production of La Boheme. In fact, this cozy & very very friendly restaurant will be due for return visits after future concerts. Staff is professional, swift, considerate & imbued with gentle humor. The food is prepared so that your entire dinner party can be served at the same... More

Great for takeout or dine-in. Never very busy for dine-in, which is continually surprising. Great options and friendly staff. Highly recommend the fried calamari appetizer and vegetarian spring rolls.

Great little Thai place tucked away on King Street. 100% authentic and great service. My standards (soft spring rolls and green curry with shrimp) were excellent. The curry was thick, creamy, and full of flavor...medium was not as spicy as I like, so will order spicy next time. Singha was icy cold. Fantastic little family restaurant with reasonable prices for... More

Love their stuffed deep fried chicken wings; food is prepared in highly visible area with complex delicious aromas of curries and garlic that surround you. Service is good. Parking can be a challenge.

We had not tried Chiang-Mai in many years. We were not disappointed. The food was terrific and priced reasonably. The ambiance was gracious in a casual way. It was especially refreshing to find and dine at a restaurant where the acoustics were good and you could carry on a conversation with your guests without yelling. It's our new "go-to" neighborhood... More

Neighborhood restaurant, far from the tourist traps, frequented by locals for the most part; very large and extensive menu offerings, old-fashioned decor, poor wine list ( but inexpensive), very good traditional Thai food and preparation, plus they can make the dishes as hot (or not) as one may like. Consistently good, and much, much better than the upscale and expensive... More
