Very classy place with a step back in history. Not what I expected being it was called a tavern. Great service and selection. Good sized portions and quality, but not the cheapest place to eat. Take the plunge and stop here on your way though.

This is a wonderful historic tavern. It was suggested to us that we have a drink there before dining somewhere else. It was a great suggestion. The bar scene is wonderful with tables close enough so conversations spill from one table to the next.

The atmospheres at the white horse tavern is ver warm and cosy but elegant! The food and service was outstanding and the menu very special! Not many vegetarian options but they were happy to accommodate! Lovely traditional restaurant.

The White Horse Tavern is a unique institution in that it is the oldest tavern in America and also holds the distinction of being the location where the colonial legislature meets. Lunch is more casual and dinner more formal. Given the popularity, reservations for dinner...More

At The White Horse Tavern we strive to create a fresh, contemporary culinary experience in a historic tavern atmosphere. Like generations before us, we serve the freshest fish, clams and lobsters from Narragansett Bay along with just-picked produce from local Rhode Island's farms. We embrace RI's vibrant food scene to bring you the very best artisan cheeses, honeys, prime cuts of beef and local fish right off the boat - all in a Colonial tavern that's been serving America for over 350 years. So join us for a taste of 21st century Rhode Island in our 17th century White Horse. You won't be disappointed!
