The food was good but the service was poor. I had to ask for water then waited 15 more minutes for the waitress to return. We ordered the baked lobster which came with clam and other seafood, but was never given side plates.

Great service. Food was wonderful. My husband had the baked 1/2 chicken with double veg instead of a carb. He loved it. I had the Shepard's pie, perfect for a cold New England night.

The restaurant is small, but the food was delicious and authentic New England. I had the clam chowder and Nantucket scallops which were phenomenal. The scallops were very flavorful, but not overpowered as they were fried, and not fishy tasting. My wife had the mussels...More

The Black Pearl wears 2 hats: the elegant, linen tablecloths, fresh flower, reservations side and the loud, mobbed, crazy, bar and grill. We ate at the latter, because our host loves the calf’s liver. I had a filet which was excellent, our friend had some...More

I throughly enjoyed lunch at the Black Pearl in Newport, RI. The food was delicious and the service was very good! The atmosphere is fun; very old New England by the sea. It’s absolutely worth a visit!

The Black Pearl is our first stop when we get to Newport. My husband has to have the clam chowder. He says it is the best he's ever had. I tried the potato leek soup and wasn't crazy about it. They have a large menu,...More

Nice tavern atmosphere. Have a beer and the best chowder in Newport. Great walkable location almost on the harbor.

I was here many years ago and came back to eat the famous chowder and it didn’t disappoint. We were able to sit at outside deck tho it was October. Very nice.

Great food, average price for the area. Definitely worth it. I liked that it was nearby local attractions, so it was nice to be able to eat and relax after a day of sightseeing and we will absolutely come again

It's my understanding that the Tavern side is open for lunch and dinner, but the Commodore's Room only has dinner hours.
