The Pioneer Bar, or P bar as the locals call it, has a local Alaskan ambience, smoke filled at times, but offers a great place to hang out. With countless old photos of fish and ships on the walls, Sitka's history comes alive here. Great local beers on tap and a full bar, it's a must stop for all. I... More

This is Sitka's "locals" bar. They still allow smoking here. It is a typical bar, but with friendly staff. The best appeal of the place is the wall covering with old marine photos, largely of local shipwrecks, waves, fish, and disasters. These pictures are worth a visit. They also have a good selection of Alaskan craft beers.

A bar... It is a decent bar that serves beer and spirits. Close to the fish processing plant. A good place to get a t shirt and a cap.

Stop in for a stiff drink, auto fry and fishing stories. Pool, jukebox and smelly fisher folk. Come in early for free coffee and watch tv until you're to start drinking again.

I could barely breathe from all the cigarette smoke.... And whatever you do don't come in if the bartender Lisa is working. I watched her serve people more drinks who could barely even stand. And she even laughed about it. Very unprofessional. It's an embarrassment to this wonderful fishing community. They even had an event there called a "slave auction."

This dive is a seedy refuge for the chain smokers in town. It is truly foul. With non-smoking options like the Bayview Pub and Mean Queen and a refusal to clean up its act the P Bar continues to bleed customers. Most nights it is a sausage fest.

Worth just stopping by to look at the pictures on the wall, have a drink and grab something to take out on the boat.

This is a local bar that has a pictorial history in pictures on the walls. If you like to see the real history have a drink in this bar. A must do.

You can tell this is a fisherman's hangout. Small quaint lots of fishing pix. They had a long bar but also booths along the windows for sit down dining. If u come ashore from a cruise ship and forgot your cash, this place took my credit card for a drink and gave me cash back!
