This is a lovely venue. You can sit "on the porch" at a table, but you are really behind glass, inside the restaurant, on a "porch" outside of the interior of the restaurant! Aldo, the owner and maitre'd, was gracious and greeting. The waiter was a bit reserved. There is a full bar, and wine list was extensive. The Chianti... More

This is the best Italian restaurant I have ever eaten at. I can be very critical of Italian restaurants since I am married to an Italian chef. Eating at Aldo's is like dining at home. The food, ambience and service is outstanding. The chef's and owners at Aldo's take great pride in making sure their customers are very well taken... More

Aldo's is not just a restaurant, but an overall sublime dining experience. I chose it based on local recommendations, therefore I already had somewhat high expectations. But I can say that it easily surpassed them. First of all the restaurant layout, is equally conducive to intimate dinner, or group gathering. Their staff, is on point, and you have ownership/management special... More

I ordered the special, a Mediterranean fish with lemon caper sauce. It was quite good, however, my husband ordered the lasagna which he described as just average. The atmosphere is absolutely charming, service was great, and I would definitely go back!

3 of us dined at Aldo's and ordered 6 items, 2 apiece, and 3 of the dishes were not very good. The lasagna was over salted to the point the diner did not eat it. The bread was very good so she filled up on that. The escargot likewise was overly salted. The mussels sat in what seemed to be... More

My wife had been asking to try Aldo's so we made a get away from home night the evening before Valentine's Day - centered on a visit to Aldo's. We had pre-selected our dinner from the menu online and stuck to it when we arrived. We had Calamari and Escargot for appetizers and Lasagna and Veal for our entrees. Those,... More

Went here for a special occasion--belated Christmas present from my daughter and her husband. We ordered a bottle of cabernet which was moderately priced but very satisfactory. Some wines there are very pricy so if money is no object, go for it. We each ordered a different dish and all four of us were raving about our dish. The bread... More

It's a dog-gone shame that such a lovely setting and friendly service has such bland food. My wife's lasagna was a dried out lump of ground meat with absolutely no liquid. My chicken piccata had a good presentation but no taste, the chef must have called in sick or is in great need of introduction to the spice cabinet. The... More

My wife and I had our first visit to Aldo's for Culinary Week. They had a $25 3 course menu with a few choices for each course. I tried the calamari. It was lightly breaded and generally tender. It was served with a marinara dipping sauce. My wife had the caprese salad and felt it was decent, but not outstanding.... More

Truly a timeless gem in San Antonio. They repurposed an old house and it feels so inviting. We were early for our reservation so they invited us into the "living room" which also houses the bar to wait on a comfortable leather couch. I could have eaten right there. They were able to seat us early and we decided to... More
