San Antonio is know for its Tex Mex food, but for those of us who prefer more of an interior style, Picante Grill is the place to go. The style of Mexican food is much closer to what you will find in Oaxaca or Mexico City. Their Chili en Nogada is as good as you can get! Also, the 7... More

The meals were not as good as previous visits. Caserola Mexicana had too much cheese and too little pabalano peppers, was pretty tasteless. Vegetarian enchiladas were very good, with fresh spinach.

Sorry to say, hate doing this. One server for whole restaurant. Waited at least 15 minutes for tortillas and at least another 15 minutes for check. Never came by to ask how things are. And then they wanted to charge me $1 more for sauce on my enchiladas. This is a first. Food very bland. Place run down, hole in... More

We visited the Witte Museum and chanced lunch here. Attentive and professional wait staff. Choice of poblano, Mexicana or Chipotle sauce on a spinach enchilada with very fresh green beans and roasted potatoes.

Average Tex-Mex for this town. Food is good; however, this facility is in dis-repair and needs to be refurbished. The dining room is dark and dingy. The parking lot is dark at night and the sign is burnt out.... After dark, it looks like a place to get mugged or get your car broken in to. The food was okay;... More

Picante Grill continues to be one of the better restaurants restaurants on or near Broadway. The Entomatadas Dinner was outstanding and the Mexicana sauce on the Enchilada Dinner had a great and pleasing flavor.

A very good place to eat, right across Broadway from the Witte Museum. We dine here often and I've never left hungry. A bargain for tasty interior Mexican cuisine. My usual order: Yucatan-style Cochinita Pibil - pork roasted in achiote seed wrapped in banana leaves (about $10), but I've enjoyed everything I've tried.

We stopped in to the Picante Grill completely without expectation for an early Sunday night dinner. As I mentioned in the title, the menus handed to us upon being seated were dirty, crusted with dried food on the pages. Gross! Come on, the menus are plastic coated to make for EASY cleaning. The best thing about the meal was the... More

Had lunch yesterday and did enjoy the meal. Pleasant setting with a nice guitarist in the background. Service a little slow but gracious. Had a Chicken Breast with a chipotle sauce that was very nice, but the chicken seemed to have been prepared totally separate, the plated with sauce. Everything was tasty but a little disjointed. My wife had a... More

I am giving four stars to this place mostly because my wife really loved her plate of Mariscos a la Veracruzana (pic): otherwise I think it is rather a three star place with somehow the vibe of real mexican cuisine. We stopped there on a Sunday for an early lunch, before going to see the zoo with our kids. We... More
