Alamo cafe is the first stop we make when we visit San Antonio. The tortillas are made on site and smell absolutely heavenly. Whatever you order is made better with fresh tortillas. Even the tortilla soup, with chunks of chicken and slices of avocado, makes for a real Texas treat. No dressing needed for salads, just use their amazing salsa.... More

This is one of my usual stops for lunch when I visit San Antonio. One of the things I like most about it is its consistency. Always a good meal prepared the same way every time! Staff was friendly and the restaurant is sporting a new expansion with more seating, a bar, and covered patio. Great Tex-Mex!

Alamo is one of the number one picks for locals. It has a nice atmosphere with both inside and outside dining. Love their relleno, flour tortillas, chicken fried steak, and their salads. Enchiladas are just so-so and fajitas are good, but not best in town. Kids love their queso.

The brisket quesadillas were delicious. The flour tortillas were up there with the best I've ever had. Chips and salsa was good. But that is where my recommendations end. The restaurant is HUGE! Several large dining areas and many large groups celebrating birthdays very loudly in the echoing room! We could hardly talk at our own table. The carpet was... More

One of the places I planned to visit on my visit here. I remember the fresh, hot tortillas. Of course, the service was very good as were the fajitas and queso dip. I like the atmosphere, food, service...all rolled into one. This is just like yesteryear when I used to visit San Antonio.

Great Salsa and cheese dip, but be warned, had a spicy kick to it. Food was tasty and service was great. Only reason i did not give it 5 stars was the portions were a bit small compared to other places. Was very good and we will be back.

Great atmosphere. One of the coolest settings a restaurant could have. The food is just classic TexMex with a bit of American home cooking. We stop by every time we are in town. I wish they still had one in the Dallas area.

I visit this location anytime I'm in San Antonio. The food is always tasty, and the service is consistent. Last time, I had cheese enchiladas, and they were good. The endless supply of chips and salsa is dangerous! :) Alamo Cafe can get crowded, so consider that when you plan to go there. It's good for families, kids or couples.

So my family and I went to eat at what use to be one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants! My son is in the USAF & is visiting home and really wanted to have a great meal! Our waiter Nick was not friendly with our group of 12 at all! When we asked if they offered a Military Disc he... More
