Beautiful scallops with a southwest flair sauce, filet great portion and perfect, meat dish for two featured sausages and steak all reported wonderful. Even with the kitchen in plain site, food was only warm by the time the wait staff got it the ten feet to our table. Thinking perhaps short staffed and we were told,' 'all paid staff tonight,... Good menu, attentive staff and well prepared food. We wanted a simple lunch and got it. We split a Cuban sandwich (excellent); it came with some tasty potatoes. I had a beer, my wife sparkling wine. The price was reasonable and setting quite nice (we sat outside). Nao has an upscale ambiance without the price or attitude.

The chefs, the servers, everyone involved is a student in the last year at the Culinary Institute of America. This time the students were all only 11 days from graduation. The food was fantas tic and all Latin American influenced. The best deal is the three course menu (three choices each of starter, main course and dessert) all for $18.... More

In the area, with 4 eight- to eleven year olds. The restaurant went out of their way to accommodate us. Made food for my girls that was not on the menu, thank you. Great ambience, awesome food. Plus, they allowed us to sit at counters where girls were able to watch the culinary process in action. They were very impressed... More

We did reservations for lunch, but the place was barely half full. Wanted to try the price fixe menu but opted for soup and sandwich. They brought over an amuse bouche (yucca dumpling) to start us off - very nice! Server was great, food was fine with some nice touches (roasted veggies with SALT, thank God). Nice little take off... We had lunch at the Nao Latin Gastro Bar, a Culinary Institute of America student-run restaurant, and were not disappointed! I ordered the cast iron chicken (very moist, without being overcooked), coconut creamed spinach (coconut flavor was surprisingly strong and delightful), and fried plantains (just ok, but a nice dash of sweetness when paired with the chicken and spinach). I... More

We had a great dinner. My husband loved his pork belly skewers. Next time he’ll get four orders for his “entree”. The corn empanadas had lovely, flaky pastry and a nice filling. The catch of the day was cooked beautifully with very crispy skin. My husband’s hanger steak as nicely charred, so perfect for him.

We had a wonderful experience at Nao. It's fun to do to a bit research, so FYI, this restaurant is run by the Culinary Institute of American students at our San Antonio location. We chose to go because we had gone to all of the restaurants in New York at the Hyde Park location. This is definitely different but what... More

This was the first time at this restaurant. It is a small plate restaurant. We tried steak, red fish and scallops. All were very fresh and delightfully prepared. The sides with the red fish was not the best which is why we ranked as a 4 instead of 5. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.

This restaurant is part of the Culinary Institute located at the Pearl. In the afternoon it is serviced by students and in the evening by a professional staff. We ate there for both lunch and dinner. At lunch we had a tostada cooked tableside. It was made with shredded beef and it was excellent but light and healthy. The fish... More
