There's only a patio outside to eat. No beer. No Bar. THIS DOES NOT MATTER. Every item here is made scratch. The whole operation can be viewed from the counter; nothing is brought in but raw ingredients, and you see the care and constant production...More

El Modelo has been in Albuquerque for more decades than almost any other restaurant in the city. And they're really not a restaurant so much as a bulk food supplier. There's one item that El Modelo makes which no other establishment even comes close to:...More

El Modelo is an Albuquerque fixture. It is housed in its own building on Second Street, just below Cesar Chavez Boulevard. It has been in the same building, unchanged, since the late 1940s. Park in the lot on the side and note the picnic tables...More

They make the best tamales that I have ever eaten. The masa to meat ratio is perfect. I am very picky about the masa flavor. Their masa has a great flavor. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant's tamales.

It's mostly a takeout place but we ate at concrete tables in the yard listening to music in Spanish. We were warned that the tamales were big so we got one plate for the two of us. They tasted like homemade and we were more...More

Absolute proof that location doesn't matter if the food is good. And, it is. Mexican food menu. Take out only by the railroad tracks, next to an overpass in a nondescript part of town. Started in a home and just stayed as its popularity grew....More

This is the spot if you want authentic Mexican food. The tamales and everything are great. Prices are good. One person has a complaint about parking. It's worth the wait.

traditionally, tamales do not contain wheat flour. check with the vendor/restaurant whether flour has been added to the masa.
