A group of 5 ladies recently visited Artichoke Cafe before a performance at Popejoy. We did this with some hesitation, because the last time we went there the service was so slow we almost didn't make it to our show. This time we had a...More

The Artichoke Cafe, aka The Choke, is my go-to place for a blind date. Why? 1. It's classy enough to weed out icky dudes. 2. The bar lounge is small, dark, romantic, and quiet enough to have a great time and conversation without being overly...More

My wife and I went to Artichoke Cafe for our anniversary. The food was good, but we were disappointed at the limited choices on the menu--a much smaller selection than we remember from previous visits. The restaurant was also not as busy as it has...More

My wife and I celebrated our 30th anniversary here. We had been to two other high end restaurants during our Memorial weekend trip and had been disappointed. That was definitely not the case here. The service was friendly, attentive and thorough. The wait staff helped...More

What a nice restaurant! This was our first lunch when we hit ABQ, and it really set the bar for our experience on the entire trip. The menu was varied, the food and service was outstanding.

We dined here on the Friday before Mother's Day as Mom doesn't like to go out on the actual day (too crowded, spotty service, stressed staff, etc.) We shared the pork belly appetizer. It was terrific! We each had the soup of the day, a...More

I have eaten here several times in the past few years without incident, but today's lunch was among the worst meals I have been served in years. Waiting almost an hour to receive our party's five entrees turned out to be the best part of...More

I have visited Albuquerque a number of times over the last five or six years for conferences, passing through, and visiting friends. The first time I visited I was fortunate to have eaten at the Artichoke, and the times since then I have been in...More

I used to live in ABQ and dined at Artichoke somewhat regularly. I've been gone a few years and returned here for a business dinner. I was still impressed by the quality of the service and the food, but shocked at how expensive it has...More

This just does not feel like a restaurant you'd find in the middle of Albuquerque -- it's typical for a street corner on K St. in DC... but once in a while I don"t want green chile on EVERYTHING I eat. :) The menu was...More

Yes, our chefs are used to catering to dietary restrictions. I would suggest you make a note on your reservation, inform your waiter and he/she will let the kitchen know.

Description
The Artichoke Cafe was reopened in 1989 by Pat and Terry Keene. Pat, who was formally trained in New York City, is executive chef and Terry has 30 years experience in restaurant management. Their dedication to the best in food, wine, and service has made this 120 seat restaurant one of Albuquerque's finest dining spots.

Its downtown location on Route 66 in the Historic Huning Highland/EDO District, cozy modern decor and rotating art exhibits add panache and charm to its ambience. The food is a mix of French, Italian, and creative American, using only the finest ingredients.
