My wife and I went here with 4 other couples tonight. Some have been there a number of times before but it was our first time. We both had the char-broiled teriyaki steak. Comes with miso soup, salad, rice and tempura veggies. Excellent flavor and very good. Only small downside was the steak was cold when it arrived. I will... More

Every time we're in Salt Lake City we dine at Koyo to enjoy its authentic comfortable feel and superb food. We're never disappointed, whether its Koyo's lunch or dinner menu. The friendly waitstaff are knowledgable regarding the menu and offer suggestions for the first time guest. My Favorite - the Sashimi dishes with a side of Edamame and green tea.

Calm, authentic interior with tatami rooms, traditional, fairly authentic food, quiet, efficient friendly service, reasonable prices.

Although this Japanese restaurant has been around for several decades, we just recently gave it a try because a friend had been there and suggested we go. We lived in Asia for more than 35 years and spent time in Japan. We found that this restaurant is not only authentic in it's cozy decor but in it's menu. We were... More

We have visited Koyo on every trip to Salt Lake and have always enjoyed the food and the ambience. The restaurant has a series of small rooms, creating a feeling of intimacy and allowing larger groups to enjoy loud conversations without impacting on others. The owners are two brothers who constantly maintain quality food. We order the bento boxes which... More

I'v been eating here since Bob, the father of a Barron and Warren opened the restaurant Decades ago. This where the locals eat. Food is authentic and tasty. Best tontaksu in the valley. Tekka and kappa rolls are great starters. All the entrees good though sometimes the sukiyaki is uneven. I keep going back. Must be comfort food

Probably some of the best sushi I've ever had! Tried a ' green eggs and ham' roll, it was delicious and I've never heard of anything like it. Really cool atmosphere too. Tried bites of the lobster roll and rainbow roll- all beautifully done and tasted amazing. Definitely want to come back and try everything on the specialty list!

The Koyo has been our family favorite since they first opened. Our memories of birthdays, dates, random celebrations have all been made special by dining there. The tatami rooms are fun, but on March 7th we had a big group, mostly "wild" children, and we wanted to celebrate a birthday. We found out they have a PARTY ROOM. They graciously... More

I'm surprised how many people, locals especially, haven't been to Koyo. Such an authentic experience and nothing beats the tatami rooms. The prices are great and the food is unbelievable. Nothing beats their chicken terriyaki. My dad worked at Koyo as a teenager and we continue to eat there regularly. Absolutely recommend!
