We have dined here many times over two or three decades, and it has always been a cut above the average, though it is a curious hybrid of fine dining on the mezzanine above and raucous happy hour around the bar below. Since we last...More

Went for Easter as this place always seems to have a wait and the holiday provided us with an advantage. Overall the food was good and service was good. The price for the food was a bit of a reach for the quality. I like...More

They have excellent Hamburger and other good American food. Try to sit upstairs near the window. It's a good place also for families with kids.

Stopped early afternoon Saturday. Ordered off the bar menu. Burger was very good. Pizza-delicious! Truffle frees-yes please! Wine prices are very reasonable. Nice atmosphere. Clean bathrooms. Service was great as well. We will be back!

We were passing through Frederick, which our son recommended for its antique shops. It happened to be lunchtime, and a TA search revealed this place. Great choice! It's an old restored place. Seating for the 3 of us was on the mezzanine, which was cool...More

The food was palatable (especially the salmon), the staff was very efficacious. The ambiance was a bit dense with noise as expected of a tavern's crowd. The window tables were that prize seating and must be booked precisely otherwise one gets that darker side at...More

We decided to drive up to Frederick for the day and got there around 10. We were walking and smelled something amazing. Our noses took us here. They didn't open until 11 but there were people waiting outside in the cold to go in. We...More

Yes. That said be prepared to walk up the stairs, especially on the weekends. The first floor is a lot of the bar area. It can get a little loud after 8pm. But upstairs is quite and nice.

There is not a dedicated parking lot for the restaurant. There is street parking and municipal lots nearby.

Description
Firestone's Culinary Tavern, opened in 1999, is located in downtown Frederick's picturesque Historic District. It is housed in a 1921 building that was initially the home of Shipley's Department Store. The restaurant combines outstanding cuisine with the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern. The Washington Post says, "the atmosphere is prime...the food is, too!".
