Fantastic food in an ambient setting at this cosy restaurant. We are on a short stay in Capileira and last night we went to this restaurant hoping to eat, but it was full booked. However, they welcomed us to sit and have a drink at...the bar and gave us a lovely tapa, so we booked for tonight. All I can say about tonight's meal is WOW! We just had main courses but it was honestly the best food we have had in Spain for ages. I had pork cheek with chestnuts, pine nuts and potatoes in a plum sauce. So tender, full of flavour and plentiful. My husband had the pork knuckle with mighas, vegetables and potatoes - again, amazing. When the head chef (who is possibly also the owner) delivers the food to your table you know he takes pride in it, and rightly so. Bill for that plus two G&Ts and two beers was €46. Excellent and even prompted my Yorkshire hubby to leave a €10 euro tip! Given that we were the only non-Spanish people in the restaurant, it seemed strange to hear the playlist of Michael Bolton, Elton John etc, but I enjoyed it. 10/10 for this experienceMore

Oxtail croquettas with chocolate sauce sounds so wrong but was so right. Meatballs and a superb goats cheese salad to follow. Fabulous staff and lovely terrace to sit out on and enjoy the November sunshine. Gorgeous village to wander around and lovely laid back atmosphere.

Nice decor and great staff. Starters - croquettes of rabo de toro (oxtail) were among the best we have ever had - and with a chocolate sauce - really no kidding it was great. The aubergine roulade was amazing. I had entrecôte steak - among...the best I have ever had and my wife had the cod. Washed down with a great bottle of red Rioja. Then a brandy of course. All for less than €90. Superb value for money and would definitely go again. Must be the best place in Capileira.More

Enormous portions and slow service. The food was fine and the staff pleasant, but my salad took 45mins to arrive. When it did the was enough for 2 or 3 people. I could only eat 1/3 of it! The rest had to be thrown away....So probably not the best choice if you are a single traveller or have concerns about food waste.More

We were immediately attracted by the interesting menu and decided to have dinner here during our stay in Capileira. We tried two different dishes, both had a great presentation and were rather creative. I would definitely visit this restaurant again as there are many other...dishes I would like to try. On arrival we were offered °spinach croquetas° and when we paid the bill we were offered a local liquor. The portions were generous. The restaurant has an outside terrace where we sat. The only negative comment I have is the fact that a menu is not provided (supposedly COVID related measure) and you have to take a picture of the menu outside before you sit down.More

On a chilly night we were very happy to be holed up near the blazing fire to try the meatballs in almond sauce (delightful) and aubergine lasagne. There were lots of other interesting local dishes we wished we had stayed in the area long enough...to try. Service very friendly but would have preferred to have plates cleared at the same time so one didn’t feel greedy finishing first.More

Such and friendly restaurant! Great food, lots of vegetarian dishes and local specialities. The chef comes out and asks everybody if they need anything, even at lunch!

This is the second time we have eaten here and it didn’t disappoint. We had a huge salad of local cheeses grilled with walnuts and Pedro ximineq dressing. Then followed by pork cheeks slow cooked with prunes and potatoes. Even room for a dessert of...chocolate profiteroles! All this with beer and coffee for under £40! Quite a drive up there but so worth it. Highly recommended.More
