The staff at this historic restaurant is very pleasant and they serve promptly and with a warm southern charm to match the atmosphere. I had the grilled liver and onions, fried green tomatoes, and turnip greens. If you are looking for healthy choices...there are a few but this is traditional southern food. My granddaughter cobbled their fried okra right up!

The staff and atmosphere are excellent. The food is unbelievably awful. Hugely fattening and unhealthy. Overlooked everything including the worst mac and cheese ever. I have not eaten food like that elsewhere in the world for 30 years now, and I do hope nutritional, good, well prepared food reaches Atlanta soon. The place was packed within 30 mins of opening,... The staff makes all of the difference here they are very attentive and offered great suggestions they check on you frequently during your meal so you're never looking for someone. I tried the Fried Chicken it could have been crispier my son had the chopped steak with onions now that was fire. I was not too impressed with the pot... More

The greeting to start with was very warm. Great tables and a lot of room! Everyone was so nice. We had a couple of busy wait persons that was maybe just passing by. They would still stop and speak and make sure you are ok. The food was just wonderful. I was ready for a nap when I was done!... More

4 couples ate here before attending a show at the fox. It is only 3 blocks from the fox, but you still have to change parking lots. The southern food was good not great, and the service was adequate, not good. Certainly not a place to avoid, but not a must do either.

I had company in town and decided to take them to Mary Macs Tea Room on a Sunday, the wait time was reasonable 20 minutes for a party of 4. When the waiter arrived we informed him we had a 1 hour time frame because we needed to head to the airport. He said that was plenty of time. We... More

We asked our host to take us somewhere to try typical Southern food. Southern fried chicken, cornbread and pot likker, collard greens. Certainly got what we'd asked for. An extensive queue to get in, but maybe 6pm was peak hour and it didn't look too bad on our way out. To say the food was plentiful is an understatement! Serves... More

When you want good ole southern food like grandma used to make -- this is the place to go. The cinnamon rolls which are complimentary are wonderful. Their sweet tea "wine of the south" as they call it is great. The sweet potato soufflé is my favorite and usually more like a desert as it is very sweet. Chicken fried... More
