It looks like a dive on the outside, and in order to get in you have to climb a steep stairwell that looks like the entrance to the kitchen. It's confusing. But once you find it...the place is hopping with business. It's very popular with Richmonders. We had the brocoletti with pine nuts as an appetizer. Perfect! Very garlicky but... More

This trattoria with simple exquisite dishes in a humble setting next to the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) hits the mark for lunch or dinner with family and friends. (Just close your eyes as you enter and climb the stairs as you enter the salon - passing the cleaning brooms and mops leaning against the wall.) The deep fried calamari appetizers... More

Came in on a Tuesday night and was seated semi promptly. The hostess was very nice and accommodating. The pasta we ordered was very good and the wine selection was nice as well. I do see why the other reviewers here have harped on the service. Our waitress was nice, but did not go out of her way when we... More

My husband and I went here for lunch one weekend. He goes here a lot for work stuff and wanted me to try it. It is a very small restaurant so the tables are a little cramped. It has a rustic feel to it. It wasn't crowded thankfully. They have a more limited menu for lunch as most places do.... More

We love Edo's and always have good experiences. We landed here on New Years Eve with a party of 8 and, as always, they delivered amazing food and excellent customer service. We ordered calamari and pan-seared scallops for appetizers, both of which were perfectly cooked. We shared four dishes, family style, and loved everything we had. Our server was on... More

Almost a hole-in-the-wall, upstairs dining room. Good beverage list, and amazing Italian food. You can't go wrong with anything here, so feel free to explore. Expect a wait on the weekends.

I am in restaurants 5-8 times a week for business. We went to Edo Squid for a family birthday. I ordered the Hanger steak and when it came, it was just to raw for me to eat. I nicely asked the waitress if they could put it back on and heat it a little bit more, she sort of made... More

Ed knows how to cook. The place is small and interestingly romantic. Can be loud but not distracting. The food is excellent. Mussels are delicious.

This restaurant has a devoted and vocal following in the community, so I was looking forward to giving it a try. On the Saturday evening after Thanksgiving, the place was packed. We had a reservation for 7:15 and was seated at 8:05. The noise level fell somewhere between laundromat and bowling alley. Service was cordial and competent bu harried by... More

Our exchange student from Bologna, Italy said that Edo Squid was good as any restaurant in Italy. I can only say it's better than any Italian restaurant in Richmond. There's nothing comparable to their eggplant parmesan or their broccoli rape. My wife always enjoys their seafood linguine. Check their schedule, make reservations, and get there early. It's not very large... More
