Stopped by while visiting Richmond for a weekend. The service was amazing - but we were also the only people in the restaurant. The portions were very filling - if you like Indian food, specify while you're ordering to get more flavor- I know that many restaurants worry about adding too much flavor, but when requested, the food is great!... My boyfriend and I went for dinner. Arrived at 6:30 and the place was deserted! However, the food was delicious, service was great, and prices were okay.

Ate the lunch buffet. Just awful! One of the worst Indian restaurants I have ever been to. The saag was like algae slime and the food was so bland. Maybe off the menu is better.

Unpretentious surroundings. Great service (particularly when the owner is ther which is 90% of the times I have visited). Excellent value for your money. I love the food. The lunch buffet is wonderful, enough variety and a quick visit when you are busy. I look forward to eating here after a fun Saturday in Carytown.

We have eaten here for 20 years and the food, service and ambiance is always excellent. The lunch buffet is small but varied and a great value.

Small intimate twelve table venue on a vibrant shopping street. Nice attentive server/owner. Eight small containers on the buffet steam table, lots of sauce, not much meat. The dishes used a common spice that made them indistinguishable in flavor, none had heat. The cooking style may be from a region of India I have not experienced before but it did... More

Had a window seat overlooking Carry street a few evenings ago. Owner was attentive, we had drinks and complementary papadums as soon as we were seated. Food was delicious, place is clean, comfortable and in a great location. Definitely a repeat for when we want decent indian food. Ive tried many in Richmond, but this is hands down the best... More

I lived in Richmond many years ago and used to eat regularly at Farouk's. A trip to Richmond this past Thanksgiving led to me making a special trip to Farouk's to see how much it had changed. The answer is,

Myself and boyfriend, decided to introduce one of our friends to try Indian food. We were in the Carytown area, so we figured this Indian restaurant had to be as good as other places we've tried in the area, but we were wrong. My friend ordered the chicken tikka masala, which is Chicken Masala on their menu. I told him... More

Three of us had dinner tonight at Farouk's, which we've enjoyed before, and I wonder if it's under new management. I seem to remember that we liked the food much better in the past, but this was okay. We had Lamb Biryani and tasty naan with raisins and almonds. The woman who served us was efficient and pleasantly unobtrusive, the... More
