If I'm going through Richmond, this is a planned stop every time! I've had both savory and sweet, both excellent.

The hardest thing about eating at Proper Pie is choosing which slice of pie to eat. This is a sweet cafe with limited seating at a few tables and small counter. The variety of pies is outstanding, with plenty of savory options too. My slice sour cream and cherry pie was excellent. Just down the block from historic landmark, St.... More

I'm not from the area. Someone suggested that I try the Proper Pie! I was told I couldn't leave the area without trying the caramel slice. I walked to the restaurant and the staff was amazing and kind. I got a proper savory pie and it was phenomenal. BUT that camel slice gave me life. IT WAS SO GOOD!!!!

Went here after dinner with a friend for some dessert. There were so many options big and small. Everything we tried was delicious.

Already reviewed their pies which are excellent. Just wanted to say, try their desserts too. I had the chocolate lamington and it was awesome. I brought it home after eating my lamb pie there and enjoyed the lamington with a cup of tea....pure bliss.

Fantastic chicken & pork pies! Also tried the sour cream blueberry & dutch apple! All were great! Small coffeeshop-like spot with an extremely nice and friendly staff.

Neat atmosphere, small joint with fantastic pie. Get there early, as they sell out of items! Meat pies, other "dinner pies" (small but very filling) and lots of desert pies - many options for everyone.

I say as a proud resident of Church Hill that this is the best meal in the city. It's inexpensive, unique, and delicious. I'm a particular adovcate of the savory pies. There are always plenty of individual pie options for meaties, vegetarians, and vegans, including "BBQ pork and peach," "Salmon, leek and potato," "vegan chili," "sausage and cheese roll," and... Pies like I have not had since I left the UK, where pies are a tradition. Fantastic flaky pastry and yummy fillings. Smoked salmon, leek and potato? Sign me up. My friend had the vegetarian option of which there is always one or two, lentil I think. Smelt wonderful but I just focused on mine, could not imagine better picnic... More

I. LOVE. THESE. PIES. I could eat a pie a day. I've had nearly every flavor they make and I haven't found one I don't like. The meat pies are better than the sweet ones, although the sweets are pretty good too. I love that the sweet pies are just sweet enough, so you can taste the natural flavors of... More
