I've been going to the Newtowne since the 70's - had my first eggplant parmigiana there back when that was a somewhat 'exotic' dish. Now friends meet there for great pizza, wings and draft beers. This place is a neighborhood institution, but it's also right on Mass Ave. in Porter Square, so not out of the way for budget conscious... More

Stopped in for a late lunch/happy hour. One of the appetizer specials was Onion Rings. Excellent with a tempura-like batter. Very light, crunchy. Thin sliced, not like some of the monster, wear it as a bracelet onion rings you get at some bars. While the turkey burger was just kind of average with cheese, tomato, lettuce, the sausage sandwich was... More

Newtowne Grille has served me time and time again, and has never failed to impress. Friendly staff, quick turnaround times for takeout/delivery, and great food has kept me coming again and again. Has a bit of the "hole-in-the-wall" look that a lot of people are enticed by nowadays, and the experience within only serves to deliver. Can't go wrong with... More

This place is a great place to go when looking for good wings! The service is great with good conversation. The 90's music will take you back and allow you to relax and just let the time go by. Love love the wings, did I mention that?

This place is great for experiencing the local scene. The bartenders and waitresses have thick Boston accents. The food is great. The menu is cheap. I love this place and am a frequent visitor. My only warning is that that you may need to walk in with thick skin. If you are easily offended by banter, friendly insults, and politically... More

Had been to Newtowne before but went again recently with family. This place is in Cambridge but is definitely more of a "locals" spot, or "townies" as the previous reviewer stated. The prices are great and so is the beer and drink selection. Great place to watch sports as they have a number of TV's. If I lived in Cambridge... More

If you know what "townie" means, then you'll know what kind of place this is. Great drinking spot to shack up with some friends in a booth and put down pitchers of your typical beers. Also a great place for trivia on Thursday nights, where a pitcher of domestic and a large cheese pizza will cost you $10 or so.

this is review is for the billerica one. Worst service ever, but it was their first week. I'll maybe go back in like 6 months when they get the kinks worked out.
