Came here for dinner on weekday and loved the food, small gem! Reconnected with food I ate as a kid in Kabul so great nostalgic experience. Great service, pleasant staff and very authentic food!

Lots of options with something for even the picky eaters. The 8 year old went with a soup for her entree as there is no kids menu. Trout was delicious and no complaints on a lamb dish. Awesome dessert similar to baklava to finish off the meal. Very pretty interior and place settings. The wait staff was very nice!

Had dinner today as I am staying nearby. The place is very popular as it is full at 7 on a Sunday. I liked the eggplant appetizer very much, which tasted like eggplant parmesan. The rack of lamb was quite burned, and it was cooked exactly the American way but way well done.

There is a really interesting selection of lamb dishes - it was hard to choose. The bread is delicious and as for the Cake dessert - outstanding! Service was good - the server was very friendly and helpful

I've eaten here a number of times, and I almost always have the Chowpan (lamb chops). They are great, accompanied by sautéed eggplant and rice and the bread fresh from the brick oven in the room is fabulous. Extensive vegetarian menu as well (wasted on me, a carnivore).

Authentic Afghan food so get ready to be exposed to things and tastes you won't get at the usual American restaurant. The staff is very knowledgeable and seems like they have been part of the family. Try at least one of the dishes from the wood fired hearth. This is where one of the single issues with this place is:... More

It was pure chance that I went to The Helmand for dinner . I was staying at a hotel nearby and the concierge asked me if I wanted to try something different . I walked in early with my dinner companion and the place looked somewhat empty but very welcoming . Our waiter was very helpful in selecting the food... More

This Afghan restaurant is near the mall and exceeded expectations. The service was very good. We asked for vegetarian food, and they had several on the menu. This was a surprise. The owner is very friendly and the whole experience was memorable.

I came expecting great things - I'd heard a lot about the place, I'd never had Afghani food before and I don't think I will again if this is a fair representation. That said I don't think it is, the food bears little or no resemblance to other northern Indian cuisines, not Pakistani nor Nepali nor Kashmiri .. It was... More
