Clam chowder and dill havarti sammy were very good. The organic greens salad with goat cheese and pecans was very good. The minestrone was okay. We really liked the ambience, and the waiter was very nice and knowledgeable. We like the fact that much of...More

Many restaurants have popped up here and there as the place to go for good food. Not many have survived to tell the story of Maldaners. A little background- Maldaners is Springfield's oldest restaurant, opened in the 1880s and has been in their current location...More

I like eating at Maldaner's. Linens on the tables and professional staff always make it a treat. Being short on time last week I asked for help in selecting a quick lunch. The soup and half sandwich was a terrific choice. The clam chowder was...More

The restaurant is in the historic downtown, and dates back to the 1880s. Neat old building with lots of character. The menu is extensive but we were looking for something light and focused on the small plate options, which were excellent. Try the shrimp and...More

Had a wonderful meal sitting outside on a beautiful evening! Doesn't get much better than this. I had the 6oz filet and my coworker had the ribeye. They both were cooked as asked and delicious! However, the cold shrimp cucumber soup stole the show!

Eating here coincided with visiting Lincoln sites in downtown Springfield as is just a couple blocks away from them. It was a beautiful evening and we took advantage by sitting out on the sidewalk cafe. I enjoyed the corn/mushroom risotto.

The risotto was fantastic. Even though there is no children's entrees, there is a lasagna noodles with a meat sauce which helps with a more pickier eater. The rack of lamb is to die for!! It's pricy for a family. However, the old time feel...More

This restaurant could use some updating but the service was good and we enjoyed the food. We were pleasantly surprised to get a visit from the man himself Abe Lincoln stopped by to say hi and talk for a bit.

Established in 1884, Maldaner's Restaurant and Catering is one of Springfield's finest restaurants. If you have visited The Old State Capitol, Frank Lloyd Wright's Dana-Thomas House or the State Capitol, you can imagine the wonderful celebrations Maldaner's likely was a part of at the turn of the last century and to the present day. Today, under the guidance of Chef-Owner Michael Higgins, Maldaner's respects tradition while offering the best of contemporary American fine dining in our historical setting. Chef Higgins features seasonal local and regional ingredients influenced by Mediterranean composition and preparation. Heirloom vegetables, humanely raised meats and Slow Food all artistically prepared and presented. Welcome to Maldaner's in downtown Springfield. We hope you enjoy your visit each time you dine at Maldaner's.
