With a beautiful patio that overlooks the downtown area of historic Ballard this wonderful little Italian place has a great lunch menu of handmade pastas and fresh salads. Child friendly and with great service, this is a great place to stop for lunch on your own or with a crowd on a Saturday while shopping or on Sunday during the... More

We've been to Volterra a number of times for dinner, brunch and lunch. On our last visit, we were disappointed that they no longer have a "brunch" menu, but the lunch menu offered both egg scrambles as well as more traditional lunch offerings. We both had the egg scrambles which were delicious. We were there on a Sunday and the... More

While staying with a friend, she brought me to a favorite place in her neighorhood - Volterra. We sat at the bar and Brent the bartender took great care of us. We had pork jowls with wild mushrooms and pasta, tagliatelle bolognese and the wild mushroom risotto. Everything was delightful. My risotto rivaled a similar dish I had enjoyed in... More

Nice atmosphere, charming place, great food. Now open only for dinner. Our group was there for lunch on one of its last lunch days. Some of the items ordered: Chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream, lamb meatballs, crab, bacon provolone scramble, mushroom scramble, "oil" soup.

We really love this restaurant and save it for special occasions like our Anniversary and early Valentine's Day. We have never had a bad meal, the service is top notch and the environment is quite nice. In the summer one can eat outside in their patio. KD

Having walked by Volterra a bunch, the wife and I finally stopped in. On a Friday night, in Ballard, with no reservation. We were able to just walk in and get seated at 7:30. That's unexpected, and we wondered why the restaurant was so empty. The food was ok, but not particularly memorable. The salami starter came with three different... More

Watch out! They give you fresh bread with olive oil and special salt--after you have already ordered! Of course you will will want one of their fantastic salads, and a pasta or main, and then a dessert; but you will explode! For this reason, my very successful plan on my last visit was this: order salad and dessert. It was... More

Stopped into Volterra about 2pm mid holiday week with a party of 4 near the end of their lunch run. Our waiter was great as was the service! Our food came fast and the Tagliatelle with Lamb Ragu that I had was wonderful! We had the "Lunch Special" with Pasta and a dessert and finished with their Tiramisu. We will... More

When you have to argue with your waiter and the manager to make a substitution on a menu because they don't have the item, it is disappointing. What a way to begin a dinner with good friends! And if you're having an early dinner on a Saturday night, and they list crispy herb chicken on the menu as a special... More

Told by the proprietor that they were only open for happy hour, then that they did not serve the type of food that I was looking for. Really, Italian resturant, Italian food-not rocket science since I have lived in this town for 10 years and have eaten here on multiple occasions and was very intentional in my selection. To say...
