When we first arrived on the Big Island we were recommended to Huggo's. It was conveniently located next to our hotel. We were quickly seated when we arrived on a Wednesday night. They had a fantastic drink menu and I had to break my tradition...to have one of their drinks of the day. It was very yummy! Our service was incredible and the food was also amazing. We sat down right at sunset and could be a very romantic dinner spot and a great place to have a wonderful meal with friends. I ordered the Huggo's Signature Teriyaki Steak which was cooked to perfection! As a land lover there are limited land lover options but you can't go wrong with the Teriyaki Steak! My friend ordered the Hook, Line and Sinker which he thoroughly enjoyed. Not only did we enjoy Huggo's we also enjoyed their other two locations! Check them out and support the local business!More

Worth it at least once just for the location...absolutely cannot beat it! Great service, all food we got was very good but I took away a star because it is not a good feeling paying this much for a meal, with apps and leaving hungry,...at least not full. I wish portion size was a little better, but overall worth it.More

Great place to eat for sunset views. The macadamia nut crusted Mahi Mahi was the best. Cocktails average. Quite pricey compared to other places in Kona.

We drive from Kurtistown to Kailua Kona to celebrate our anniversary dinner. We were treated to a fabulous complimentary dessert as we dined in the sunshine of Kona.

Our timing was fantastic, we arrived about 30 minutes before sundown, requested a waterside table, and they were able to accomodate. We ordered the Fritto Misto (calamari, shrimp, and artichoke fried appetizer) and it was over the top fantastic. Our bottle of wine was served...with Port rather than Wine glasses so they gave us a free dessert which was fine with us. One of us oder the Hook, Line, & Sinker and the other got the Kahakai Fresh catch of day. The garlicy sauce and buttery fish were increadible on the Hook, Line and Sinker and the Macadamia crust on the fish and Bamboo infused rice were amazing on the KahakaiMore

We always go to Huggo's when in Kailua. The location is perfect for sunset viewing, but timing is tricky as the place fills up fast. We asked for the Patio section, which is outside, a bit windier and can get hot when the sun beats...on it. However, if you can get there about 5, adjust the shade umbrella, have a drink or 2 before dinner then sit and enjoy the sunset and the breeze. They have a great drink menu and the food and wine selections are also very good. Our first visit there was great--just at sunset, good Mai Tai's and then a piece of their giant Hualalai Kea Pie--Kona coffee ice cream, Oreo crust, lots of fudge and whip cream---more than enough for 2 people. Yes, we had drinks and dessert for dinner! Our second visit was after sunset and during the second or third seating. Service was rough and the timing was off. We ordered drinks, then waited. We ordered dinner. The dinner arrived before the drinks with the apology that the bar was slammed and the kitchen was rushing as closing time was approaching. For the price and reputation of this place I find this pretty inexcusable. We enjoy the views, the drinks, the food and the dessert. Our server was very young and perhaps needs additional training to help control/direct the bar and kitchen. As stated in some reviews, the hostess was always wonderful--very polite, helpful and doing her best to facilitate people's requests.More

I had a to go order bc wait time for table too long! Food is great but the hostess Bri manse me return to this place because she goes above & beyond to make sure your order is to the point-I have foodallergies galore &...in between seating customers & booking seating she is a pro through & through! I ordered the “Kahakai” just divine -all my cells were jumping for joy:)) Next day I ordered the hearts of palm salad & oh the bamboo green rice -I could eat that daily & ordered it for all my meals there regardless of whether it came w/meal or not!More

We loved everything about Huggo's. The oceanfront location is wonderful. Staff were attentive. But the shrimp sizzling appetizer was the big hit.

An incredible experience. Our visit started on a busy Monday with a wonderful greeting by the hostess. We asked for a waterfront table to celebrate our anniversary….and she enthusiastically promised she get us a great location. After a 15 minute wait, we were seated on...the lower level waterfront with a great view of the sunset. The meal was superb. As an appetizer, the fish chowder came in a small bowl, and was easily the best fish chowder I’ve ever had-incredibly delicious, full of fish. Honestly, I could have had another bowl for dinner, but instead had the short ribs and shrimp. Again, Just a tremendous meal. My wife had teriyaki steak which was also excellent. We decided to take on dessert with one of the house ice cream special. They are huge!! We almost finished it. Service was superb and overall I’d say prices are reasonable. We found Hugo’s to be far and away the best dining experience in Kona, clearly a cut above all the tourist centered places there.More

Huggo's was next door to our hotel (Royal Kona Resorts) and we saw long lines as we walked past going on our way to the main strip. One day we walked by before they were open for dinner and we had drinks while waiting for...the kitchen to open. We were given a table with a great ocean view, the waitress was very friendly and attentive, the fresh and exquisitely prepared food arrived quickly and was excellent. A real treat!!! It was so good we ate there the following night too!!!More

This restaurant is quite popular and next door to the Royal Kona Resort. I highly recommend you make reservations bc the wait could be up to an hour long. They specialize in seafood and it is the only restaurant ion Alii Drive that offers Cioppino...which was delicious! The ocean view is spectacular and the staff highly attentive!More

They do serve really good breakfasts, and great breakfast pizzas, which I couldn't wrap my head around at first. However, they are awesome. Enjoy!
