The restaurant itself isn't anything to get excited about - regular place, no real view to speak of, but the food is off the hook!!! Expertly cooked, with sauces that are nothing short of amazing. We had the pork spring rolls as an appetizer... and...ordered a second helping. Seafood trio is great too.More

This is our 4th or 5th visit to Jackie Reys. Each time is better than the last. Limited reservations caused us to eat at the bar. Great food and service!

We ate at a number of restaurants during our trip to Kona, and this was definitely the best. The prices were reasonable, and the food was delicious!

My wife and I made our COVID-19 escape to Hawaii 3 weeks after our 2nd vaccines, not being sure what the restaurant situation would be due to the pandemic. We had to call or go online at least a couple of days ahead to get...reservations, but one night we hadn't been diligent and everything was booked. We knew we would pass Jackie Rey's on our way back from an outing so we called in an order. We were tired and a little cranky and didn't expect much, but the food was great, even after reheating in the microwave. I had angel hair pasta with chicken, and my wife had a "trio" with fish and prawns. It was so good that we made reservations for our last evening in Kailua Kona, and figured we'd have the same things because they were so good. But their special that night was seared Ahi and we both had that. It was delicious! Truly the best meal we had on our last minute getaway vacation. It's not on the water, and doesn't have a view, but don't miss this place!More

If you are in the Kona area and looking for a quality dinner, you must got to Jackie Rey's. It is much less expensive than any hotel restaurant and the chef presents some amazing dishes. Everything our party ordered was fantastic. Alittle higher than mainland...prices, but definitely worth the visit. The Poke Stack appetizer was fabulous and visually stunning. Best to make a reservation for this popular spotMore

Had the seafood trio and it was amazing. I went here with my 2 girlfriends for a birthday vacation. Yes the prices can be a bit steep but not outrageous.

I really love that this restaurant is locally operated, being a Big Island resident. The food is good, not great, but good enough to continue to frequent the restaurant regularly. The only reason I am not giving it five stars is because the customer service...really needs attention. The gentleman that greeted us at the door actually rolled his eyes when we asked for a specific table. The host and the waitstaff do not appear to enjoy their job too much. If you improve the customer service experience, I will write another review of improvement.More

Review based on our experience on the one night we were there only. Real good experience for the most part. Local spot very close to our rental. Good reviews and a nice looking menu so we went for it. Friendly hostess/mgr seated us right away...and brought water. The menu has island themed pupus like guava ribs and kalua pork spring rolls. Also beef, pork, and local catch entrees. We chose the quarter loaf of rosemary bread with garlic butter to begin and at 4$ seemed speedy but sounded good. More $ than it’s worth IMO. Full bar so wife decided to get crazy and order a Mai Tai. Once it came, it was definitely not to her liking, tasting like booze and nothing else. We told the runner when he brought the bread and he alerted the manager of the issue. She came over and very pleasantly asked my wife about it and made clear it was no problem and what can I get for you to replace it. Much nicer than treatment we have received elsewhere when this problem has come up. The Passion Flow cocktail was so good I ordered one also-virgin version. When our somewhat distant waiter returned for our order, I chose the seafood trio-crab cake, shrimp kabob, and grilled fresh catch which was mahi mahi on our visit. This meal included Molokai sweet potatoes and a Thai coconut sauce. My wife chose the chicken & shrimp angel hair paste with tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and garlic. This was listed as coming with grilled vegetables. She enjoyed the dish well enough, especially the sauce but the “grilled vegetables” certainly appeared to have been cooked off prior to assembly and not heated properly as they were pretty cold when the dish came to the table. Disappointing. The seafood entree arrived looking very good except for the sweet potatoes which looked liked a pile of thick purple mush. Unappetizing looking and also tasting IMO. Those were a miss. Also, the shrimp “kabob” was just two on a skewer and stuck into the mahi filet. They were delicious but two seemed skimpy. The fish filet was perfect, cooked just right and so fresh, not fishy. My crab cake-don’t know crab type should have asked-was delicate and very flavorful. But, the listed Thai coconut sauce appeared to have somehow been subbed out for red Thai curry sauce that accompanied the app version of the crab cake. I have no use for curry, finding it too spicy. I brought this to the waiters attention and he apologized but thought maybe the kitchen was out of the other sauce. I pushed past the heat and still enjoyed it. Dessert had been recommended with the choice being the Chocolate Chiffon cake with a light coconut butter cream frosting served ala mode. It arrived looking beautiful but not sure if the light in the description as light in weight or flavor but it sure was light in flavor. Cake was moist and full flavored but overpowered the frosting. Nice ice cream. Despite small misses, I would definitely recommend.More

We have always enjoyed their food and their menu. Even more so since the pandemic. They are one of only a few places in Kona that we really feel safe in going out to eat at. Jackie Rays really has stepped up for keeping their...customers safe – Bravo to them! We just wish they were open for lunch, at least a few days a week.More

We LOVE Jackie Rey's happy hour. It is Monday thru Friday 3-5pm. Never too crowded. If you google it, their web page has the items and prices. Enjoy!

Grilled foods not normally separated during cooking but may be able to be cooked separately of which you would have to talk to the chef or management first. Aloha
