Review based on our experience on the one night we were there only. Real good experience for the most part. Local spot very close to our rental. Good reviews and a nice looking menu so we went for it. Friendly hostess/mgr seated us right away...and brought water. The menu has island themed pupus like guava ribs and kalua pork spring rolls. Also beef, pork, and local catch entrees. We chose the quarter loaf of rosemary bread with garlic butter to begin and at 4$ seemed speedy but sounded good. More $ than it’s worth IMO. Full bar so wife decided to get crazy and order a Mai Tai. Once it came, it was definitely not to her liking, tasting like booze and nothing else. We told the runner when he brought the bread and he alerted the manager of the issue. She came over and very pleasantly asked my wife about it and made clear it was no problem and what can I get for you to replace it. Much nicer than treatment we have received elsewhere when this problem has come up. The Passion Flow cocktail was so good I ordered one also-virgin version. When our somewhat distant waiter returned for our order, I chose the seafood trio-crab cake, shrimp kabob, and grilled fresh catch which was mahi mahi on our visit. This meal included Molokai sweet potatoes and a Thai coconut sauce. My wife chose the chicken & shrimp angel hair paste with tomatoes, basil, olive oil, and garlic. This was listed as coming with grilled vegetables. She enjoyed the dish well enough, especially the sauce but the “grilled vegetables” certainly appeared to have been cooked off prior to assembly and not heated properly as they were pretty cold when the dish came to the table. Disappointing. The seafood entree arrived looking very good except for the sweet potatoes which looked liked a pile of thick purple mush. Unappetizing looking and also tasting IMO. Those were a miss. Also, the shrimp “kabob” was just two on a skewer and stuck into the mahi filet. They were delicious but two seemed skimpy. The fish filet was perfect, cooked just right and so fresh, not fishy. My crab cake-don’t know crab type should have asked-was delicate and very flavorful. But, the listed Thai coconut sauce appeared to have somehow been subbed out for red Thai curry sauce that accompanied the app version of the crab cake. I have no use for curry, finding it too spicy. I brought this to the waiters attention and he apologized but thought maybe the kitchen was out of the other sauce. I pushed past the heat and still enjoyed it. Dessert had been recommended with the choice being the Chocolate Chiffon cake with a light coconut butter cream frosting served ala mode. It arrived looking beautiful but not sure if the light in the description as light in weight or flavor but it sure was light in flavor. Cake was moist and full flavored but overpowered the frosting. Nice ice cream. Despite small misses, I would definitely recommend.More
