Z'otz is a quirky coffee shop that is very sci fi/Halloween themed. You will not forget it. It is on a very fun street in Uptown next to other stores and restaurants. They have many coffee selections but I was most impressed by their tea selection. Most coffee places have tea as an afterthought, but not Z'otz. They have many... More

Thanks to places like this for not going main stream and staying strange, the world is a better place because of it. Oh and the beverages are very good!!

This is an interesting place, good selection of teas and coffee. Seems very much a community hangout. The restaurant where we had dinner didn't serve tea, so we ended up here and really enjoyed both the tea and the ambiance.

Z'ots was an accidental find last time I was in January but enjoyed the ambience and the customers and barristas. It was quirky, friendly and a great place to spend writing post cards. Was determined on this trip to go again hoping that nothing had changed. Went on Monday morning (Labour Day) and then again on the Wednesday evening different... More

The espresso was good, but did not wow me. The place was interesting, but needed a scrub. The highlight definitely was the toilet. Other than that, just another coffee shop...

These reviews are riddled with thwarted expectations. Z'otz wears it's identity on its sleeve, its a coffee dive, you can see that from the street. I've found the customers to be across the board friendly when approached ina friendly manner, and jerks when I bring cold, guarded energy to the place. Same for the employees. It's a very good, unusual... More

We were in New Orleans on a girls' trip and stopped in here while we were in the Garden District. The frozen cappuccino was the worst I've ever experienced. It had a few cubes of ice and was very bitter. The guy waiting on us was a total jerk. We came here to get away from the chain coffee houses,... More

Has ok coffee, you get used to it. The crowd it attracts is all "different" people. But when they all get together their crazy colored hair and tattoos make them look like they are in uniform. Great place to people watch. Also handy because it is usually (but not always and with no regularity) open 24 hours, and on big... More

Z'otz looks just like it was sprung from a hellish, late-night brainstorm between Edward Gorey and Terry Gilliam (Fisher King, 12 Monkeys) -- incoherent, dilapidated, abstract, and carrying a strong, menacing, gothic undertone. This is not the place to have a Sunday brunch after church; it's a place to discuss Marx and Engels while hardcore punk or industrial music pounds... More

Eehh. I've had too many encounters with pretentious art dicks here. Get over yourselves, it would make this place a lot more enjoyable if their employees werent so disgruntled. Coffee isnt that special either. But the actual establishment is very cool, nice interior decoration.

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
