The food was amazing and the not tourist atmosphere of real New Orleans was great. Everyone was friendly and the service was great. Will try and go back before we leave for the buffet lunch!

For the past several years, when I've returned to NOLA, I have passed Lil Dizzy's and always noticed a line of people in the front. A few of my friends raved about the food, particularly the fried chicken. Being one who is not fond of waiting for too long to get a seat, I avoided this place. Finally, on this... More

Wow! So good. We came for breakfast. Our waitress, Dawn, was so funny and helpful. She first reminded us that we did not come to New Orleans for eggs and bacon. She strongly recommended the seafood po boy and jambalaya omelet and the French toast. We ordered all of that and a plate of eggs and sausage(made there). There were... More

We went down at 9 am and had a great breakfast. Eggs perfect and the grits were great. They toasted the buttered biscuit which was a plus. Cheap and very tasty!

Really friendly owner, great buzz to the place and delicious typical New Orleans Cuisine. Lots of local people enjoying the help-yourself canteen and going back for more was encouraged

We dropped by for lunch and enjoyed the food. We had fried chicken and a shrimp poboy. Both were good. Our waitress was friendly and funny. A good place for local cuisine.

Really wish I did not waste the cab fare on this place for breakfast. Worst breakfast of the trip by far, ordered the Crab Omelette ($12.00) - got a undercooked very runny eggs, with coagulated cheese & barely any crab to be seen (I do know it was real crab though, because of the pieces of shell), my wife looked... A neighborhood guy recommended Lil Dizzy's. After a bit of a wait, we were seated by the owner who took good care of us for the entire meal. We had the buffet which included salad bar, gumbo, red beans, fried chicken, veggies, bread pudding and iced tea, all for a very reasonable price. It was a welcome change of pace... More

Neighbourhood Profile
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.
