We arrived in New Orleans for our first visit, around 6 p.m., and we were hungry and thirsty after our flight from Canada. We were looking for our first taste of the flavours of Louisiana. A warm and friendly welcome from the hostess, who quickly seated us, was our first pleasant experience here. Our friendly and efficient server, Erich, arrived... More

We visited at 11:00 am, so we could eat breakfast or lunch. Our group had both. The food is outstanding! The only reason for not giving 5 stars is because the service and cooking times are slow. We were there over an hour and a half. Definitely eat here, just don't be in a rush! Friendly staff, delicious food.

We went to Oceana Grill at the recommendation of our Uber driver during our first visit to New Orleans. The quality and freshness of seafood did not disappoint and the sumptuous dessert was worth the extra few pounds gained in the process. Friendly staff with unique decor the place is very nice without being luxurious. If you want to have... More

We sat the bar enjoyed the Barbecue Shrimp which was delicious and for lunch I had the Fried Shrimp Po-Boy it was delicious. The bartender was super friendly and we sat next to some amazing locals who filled us in on all the hotspots to check out. I will definitely come again.

Erich our server knew the menu well and as an added bonus also had great advice and provided directions to local entertainment which was far more enjoyable than the hustle and bustle of Bourbon street. All servers and hosts were friendly and helpful and the meal was excellent I will definitely go again and I have recommended to others already

Had dinner here twice while staying at the Hotel a few doors down. It does not look like much from the outside, but this place is 3-4 floors high, and has excellent food, staff and ambience. You have to try the House Special Grilled Oysters! I could drink a cup of the sauce all by itself, really good stuff. I... More

My family chose the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo, and it was a big hit! It's served with a buttery piece of toasted bread. There was plenty of food in one serving. They also offer a kids meal.

I've eaten at Oceana's several times and have always found the food to be very good. Po boys are large and we often split them while someone else gets another plate to split. Steaks are good, seafood does not disappoint and atmosphere is fun. Often very busy, if you sit upstairs by the window, you can view the street and... More

Mixed feelings about Oceana, very cool funky building with stairs accessing different levels, good service, but the food wasn't great. Our group of 6 was there for an early dinner, ordered quite a variety. The shrimp poor boys had overcooked shrimp and the whole sandwich was too dry, flavors not melding well. Another person ordered fried catfish and received a... More

Love this place! It was my 2nd visit there. It was recommended by two locals. Lines form outside, and you have a wait, but go anyway! We had the best waitress we have ever had in New Orleans. She was so attentive and made sure we had what we needed. My husband and I split an oyster poorboy and red... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
