We just happened on this place while walking in the French Market area. What good luck! It's an old restaurant . . . been there since the 1800's and it's by no means fancy. To me it's one of those older places that are absolute gems for just darn good cooking. I ordered oysters on the half-shell for an appetizer... More

I had the shrimp and catfish platter - came with bread, hush puppies and fries. My husband had blackened speckled trout with garlic mashed potatoes and buttered Brussel sprouts. All the food was wonderful - there was just too much food to eat! Seating on the upstairs balcony was lovely - good vantage point to people watch.

Had a great supper here. The crab cakes were great! My husband had the froes oysters. They came on a huge plate. A little expensive but worth it.

Definitely some of the most enjoyed meals we had while in NOLA. The seafood was perfect. The red beans and rice here were the best we had. Fun atmosphere. Make a reservation - but worth the wait!

So disappointed in this place as a whole. I ordered the 1/2lb shrimp w/ sausage, corn, & potatoes. My husband ordered the steak. His steak came out by itself......20 minutes later he was done eating & I had just received my lukewarm food. We then ordered bread pudding & waited another 30 minutes for it to come out. We also... Good location, good service but food was just so so and pretty pricey. I tried the fried green tomato with shrimp po-boy, did not have much flavor even with the sauce on it.

The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, and even the first impression inside may make you wonder. But then you are greeted by a friendly hostess, then a friendly waiter. Our waiter knew his job, enjoyed it, and made our time there pleasant. My colleague started with the speciality: the grilled oysters. She loved them. I had the... More

We had yet to eat crawfish and were about to leave for the airport. We remembered seeing the restaurant as we walked to Frenchmen Street and decided to try it out. We ordered oysters, crayfish, an oyster wedge salad, and a shrimp po'boy. YUM! The entire meal so delicious. And, it was the BEST service we had during our entire... More

We were looking for something a bit different than creole and fried seafood when we determined that spiced shrimp would be perfect. The smells from the restaurant are evident when walking through the French Quarter/French Market. Prices weren't bad and portions were generous. This was one of our favorite restaurants while visiting New Orleans.

I love boiled shrimp. While walking through the French Market passed this restaurant and saw and smelled the boiling pot. Smell was amazing. Went in had the shrimp and they were great. Maybe the best boiled shrimp I've ever had.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
