A very simple hot dog stand with only three items on the menu (I visited it at the Harrahs Casino in New Orleans. Good for casino prices. The regular hot dog was $3.95 with toppings including really good chili (cheese was 55 cents more). Then they have a 1/4 pound hot dog and a 1/4 pound sausage dog for $5.95.... More

I was at the Harrah's Casino and seen the Lucky Dogs, I've never have heard of them. I would go past the lucky dog stand and it always seemed busy so I figured I would try one. I wasn't disappointed , they steam the bun and the hotdog was huge for 3.95 plus tax. They have chilli, cheese, relish, onion... More

I was told by a local to only eat the lucky dogs from harrahs casino because the hot dog carts on the streets of the French quarter are ran by homeless people and not regulated.

Ok we were hesitant but the company has the market on Bourbon St and so they must have a standard. We each bought one and they were delicious! Yes real beef and fresh bun. Your choice of toppings including chili ... so no worries the vendors are great people too- very knowledgeable and know the area should you want correct... More

The lucky dog was great but the service was horrible. I ate at the Lucky Dog in Harrahs and the girl ran out of regular hot dogs so she told the patron in front of me he'd have to wait ten minutes for her to steam more which he did. She waited ten minutes and then made his four hot... More

After wandering aimlessly, in my youth of course, I would stop, in the wee hours and get a dog from the street vendors. Full disclosure: I can't truly attest to the quality of the dogs, but at 2:30am they've always hit the spot.

One of the best eats in New Orleans- especially late night. You can find these stands all around the French Quarter and I recommend getting everything on it. Delicious!

You haven't experienced NO if you haven't stuffed a lucky dog down. Whether middle of the afternoon or a midnight snack, there are always good. Not too much chili or you will have a mess!!

the cart makes for a magnificent photograph. its legend has grown to be a part of the crescent city some how. but would eating one may or may not kill you. its a steamed weenie, with an array of condiments that adorns the frankfurter that vary in temperature to cool to room temperature, that can't be healthy. push cart vendor... I could not get enough of these things. They are amazing, with or without alcohol. Thankfully they are everywhere in town, but you definitely need to try.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
