This is a very large restaurant with long wait times. We went with our sons and families. One of our sons had been there before and recommended the place. Everyone in our group ordered different items. The Cajun boiled potatoes were very tasty. My husband ordered the mixed seafood platter and enjoyed it. One of our grandsons had the shrimp... More

We stayed in the Financial District, but this restaurant was not far from the our hotel in the French Quarters It is on Iberville Street. The restaurant is a well known sea food restaurant. It has been in New Orleans for over 50 years. I had the broiled cat fish and shrimp and the portions were huge. I had a... More

Went here twice this trip, close to hotel. Lunch was good, great oyster poboy, fabulous onion rings. Dinner with salad with about 2 cups of crabmeat-terrific, great remoulade sauce.

We received several recommendations from shop owners to grab dinner at Deanie's and now I know why! Great seafood, but be prepared for a long wait especially if you are visiting on the weekend. We waited 90 minutes, but the food was fresh, hot and amazing. Oysters on the half shell were the freshest we have had anywhere. The staff... More

This was our third visit to Deanies. This time my husband and I shared a half sampler. Yes, a half is enough for two people. We had to get a doggie bag for the remains of this dish. We don't have fried foods often, but this is a must at Deanies. We love this place!

A group of us prearranged a meal...it was SOOOO good! Can't beat fried seafood, BBQ shrimp, classic gumbo...even a nice piece of fish. The servers were very pleasant and attentive, and it was a nice atmosphere. I knocked off a star only for a personal matter - I have a perennial back issue, and I was in a lot of... More

After a big breakfast and a day at Mardis Gras World, my husband and I wanted a snack to tide us over until dinner. We stopped at Deanie's at the recommendations of our hotel staff. This bright, open, spacious restaurant was the perfect stop to fortify our weary bodies. The menu looked great but because we wanted something on the... More

An Uber driver recommended this place and we were happy we went! I completely savored an appetizer of freshly cut potato chips topped with cheese.. ahhh so perfect..with crabmeat and accompanied by jalapenos. My shrimp po boy was seasoned and lightly fried to perfection. I am dreaming of it now! THANKS FOR a completely satisfying meal, Deanies!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
