What a great lunch we had. Friendly folks with a delicious cajun and creole buffet (or order a la carte). Perfectly spiced and cooked foods!

I want to first say its important to recognize that this was a historically important place in the civil rights movement in NOLA. I also have personally met Leah Chase and she is a wonderful and charming woman. I have to also say that the food here is good enough but you go here for the experience and to be... More

Possibly the best fried chicken I have ever had. I went in on a tuesday afternoon and there was no line. I had the buffet, and the food was absolutely amazing, and the ambience was just as impressive. The reputation of this restaurant for it's New Orleans cuisine was well earned, in my humble opinion.

Accompanied a New Orleans native friend here for lunch today, and was treated to an Old New Orleans treat! The staff here was excellent for service;we decided to try the Buffet:wow, now I know what New Orleans tastes like! the red beans and rice and sausage is best I've had, along with the fried chicken , green beans, garlic potatoes, greens,... This restaurant came with a great recommendation from a food tour we had done. We have heard of a lot of people who found it great but unfortunately this wasn't our experience. We seemed to be in a service hole as it took 1 hr & 40 min to get our main course, and we didn't even have the benefit... More

After coming to NOLA for years our small intrepid band of eaters decided today was the day to try this famous restaurant. We should have waited for another trip. The major flaw was that, being the 2nd day after Christmas, they were very short staffed. Not a little -- but a lot -- and the whole experience suffered for it... More

This ranks among the best meals I've ever had. It's a buffet, but the selections are limited (in a good way) and everything is top-quality. The day we went, soup of the day was chicken & sausage gumbo, the best I've ever had. On the buffet was a small salad bar, red beans & rice (with a big bucket of... More

First time eating here. Atmosphere was great. It's pretty casual. I wore jeans and a button up. The food was some of the best I've had in New Orleans. Definitely a a must do on a historic checklist. We also got to meet Mrs. Chase and take a picture with her. This is something you have to request so be... More

I walked too Dooky from Canal. It was about 20 minutes. I was there for lunch. What a treat Brennen or Brandon (sorry) was my waiter and what a grew guy. He made sure I had the crab soup even thought I asked for the gumbo-the crab soup was part of the buffet. The buffet was too good. My only... More

If you want an excellent introduction to Southern Cooking in a place that also features art and has hosted many a famous person. Dooky Chase is the place to eat. We went at lunch and treated ourselves to the buffet which featured baked crawfish, fried catfish, cabbage casserole, fried chicken, gumbo, seafood ravioli, spicy sausage, shrimp and lima bean soup,... Staying in Treme

Neighbourhood Profile
Treme
That sound? That flavor? That certain je ne sais quoi that lets you known you’re in “Nawlins” and nowhere else? It’s all good and in broad abundance on the streets of Tremé, where so much of what’s considered to be the very best of New Orleans culture and tradition is, put simply, just how people go about their daily lives in this historic part of town. As one of America’s oldest African-American neighborhoods and among the nation’s first established residential areas for free people of color, Tremé’s significant heritage and contribution cannot be understated. This is especially the case when considering some of Tremé’s most famous residents, most notably jazz great Louis Armstrong. For full flavored food, funky and jazzed up music, and vibrant street life presented with homegrown pride, you can’t beat a visit to Tremé.
