We went early on a Saturday night (got there about 5:45) to avoid the notorious lines. FYI - It was still at least a 20 minute wait. I thought the food was fine, but not anything spectacular enough to go out of your way for. The Boudin Balls were definitely the best part, and the Jambalaya was great as well.... More

Old, tired, and out of the way restaurant with fabulous food. Upon arrival your not sure this place serves food. There is an old broken down pick up truck with a table and chairs in it's bed parked out front. You walk in the front door and are greeted then taken up a few stairs, through the kitchen, then to... I wanted to love this restaurant. The fried chicken was moist, and plentiful, but this is the south and I expected that. The sides were very good. The corn muffins to start with garlic butter were delicious. But they only made basic martinis, and for dessert, there were only two choices, and none of them chocolate. We took a cab... More

We were a big party of 8 and the service was impeccable. They all took care of us all from drinks to starters to giving the table complementary desserts. Food was divine and it was just a super fun and delectable evening. I highly recommend.

I went to Jacques Imo's with a group of 10 (all of us obnoxiously loud), and they put us in a side room where we were able to be our true, horrible selves. The service was amazing, the food was spectacular, and the waiter suggested all of the right things - don't be afraid to experiment! We had the alligator... More

For years I have wanted to dine at Jacques-Imo's, but yet again, I am not a fan of lines and long waits. This year we decided to venture there a bit early and partake in libations at the bar prior to eating. The wait was 1 hour, however it was worth every minute. The ambiance is pure New Orleans. It... We had an excellent meal here. The shrimp alligator cheesecake starter is terrific. Blackened redfish mains were amazing. Cornbread starters were excellent. Big portions. Place is hopping. Be prepare to wait a bit for a table.

It was surprising when I arrived since it looks like they focus on other things besides the decorating. The food was great, and the waiter was fantastic with the 12 of us.

This place was recommended by every local we met as the go to place for true nawlin' food. So we hopped on the St Charles street car on a Tuesday and took it all the way out to almost the end to Oak street and walked down a few blocks to Jacque Imo's. We planned to arrive about 15 minutes... More

Everyone that works here is awesome and they make you feel welcomed for dinner. For starter they provide incredible corn muffins with buttery tops. Entree's come with house salad....spinach with fried oyster. My husband had the fried chicken but not over the top happy with it. I had the best ever meal the Blackened Redfish....so good! Our daughter had the... More

Staying in Uptown / Carrollton

Neighbourhood Profile
Uptown / Carrollton
Very much their own self sufficient unit within the greater metro area, Uptown and Carrollton tone down the urban edge with a friendly attitude and collegiate feel. Home to Tulane and Loyola Universities, all the students living in the area ensure that Uptown and Carrollton stay youthful, cosmopolitan and vibrantly fun. Two of the liveliest thoroughfares for nightlife and socializing (and yes of course more of the city’s outstandingly good food and live music) are Oak Street and Maple Street. For a truly wild time, the expansive acreage of Audubon Park, with its zoo, golf course, and actual patches of swampy wetlands, means peace and quiet are never too far away.
