We ate breakfast at the Ruby Slipper 3 mornings while on a recent visit to New Orleans. It was probably the best food experience we had in NOLA, as we do not eat the Creole/Cajun foods most restaurants offered. I enjoyed the Corned Beef Hash Eggs Benedict on 2 mornings and the Banana Fosters French Toast on one morning. My hubby always just ordered the Southern Breakfast of fried eggs, bacon, fried green tomato, grits and homemade biscuit. Love, love, love this place. There were two locations within walking distance of our hotel. The first day we ate at the one on Decatur St, while we were walking to Jackson Square, but the one closest to our hotel on Iberville (Courtyard by Marriott in French Quarter) was the one on Canal St.

As the title notes, I ordered the shrimp and grits, which didn't look as appealing as I had imagined when it came out but don't let looks deceive you. It was delightful. I was with five others in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and we stopped in for brunch one afternoon. My fiance ordered the split, which came with a fried chicken eggs Benedict and another with shrimp. The fried chicken was scrumptious. Mimosas were tasty and the service was good. Took awhile to get in, as the place stays full but well worth the wait.

Must go spot for breakfast. They have a variety of eggs Benedict’s, all served on amazing cat head biscuits. Make sure you get a side order of candied bacon. Also there is always a wait but you can join an online waiting list before you get there. Follow the link on this site for that

The food was okay, ambiance okay and service pretty good. That said, it was quite expensive for breakfast for two at over $50 for french toast, orange juice and an extra side of bacon. If we had to do all over again, we'd wait in a line for a more unique experience. This felt too-corporate for us.

This was the second of two Ruby Slipper Cafe breakfasts we had, the first being on Magazine Street. This one was every bit as delicious, and as a bonus, the leftovers could be made into lunch. It turned out on this visit that my companion and I had both chosen different Benedict breakfasts. Neither one of us could finish the entire plate of food, but by ordering an extra biscuit to split, we could each top our Benedict with another half biscuit, then wrap the breakfast sandwich to go, which we enjoyed a few hours later for lunch. The servers were quite nice, and we enjoyed our visit thoroughly.

We had the southern breakfast with two perfectly cooked over easy eggs, great bacon, good grits, and really yummy biscuit. Hubby had the gulf shrimp omelet with biscuit and good home fries. I had the shrimp and grits which were very good and a biscuit. I think the butter served with biscuits was a cinnamon sugar butter. We all left very full. The biscuits were our favorite part of the meal. Service was very good and friendly.

This place is busy for a reason! Our waitress was very friendly and helpful in making our selections. The fried chicken benedict and the two tomatoes benedict were both excellent - hihgly recommended! The biscuits were large, crusty on the outside, moist on the inside. YUM YUM!

I will forever dream of the fried green tomatoes from the Ruby Slipper on Burgundy Street in New Orleans. Of the three places (including the absolutely disgusting Elizabeth’s restaurant) from which I ordered fried green tomatoes, none came even remotely close to how purely delicious the Ruby Slipper’s were. The candied bacon was also sent from heaven. The Bloody Mary has rightfully been awarded accolades. And just as important as how tremendous the food was, our server was the sweetest person, so nice and helpful and accommodating; friendly and genuinely cared that we were happy. This place is a gem; we wish we had gone back each day for breakfast and had not bothered trying “new places” as nothing compared. Also, very clean, which these days is more important than ever.

Went back to the Ruby Slipper that I know because the one on Broad is horrible, it’s cute and all but terrible food. Service was amazing. The big guy opened the door for us and some lady seated us right away. My daughter and I had the server with locs and he was definitely a pleasure to have. He was a kid mind reader and he was really good at serving. He knew the menu really well so I just told him what I wanted and he put in whatever in was called. He’s really good with kids! He took amazingly good care of my daughter and her kid needs/wants! Mind you, I was on a phone call most of the meal and he was not phased by it. Smooth, seamless, effective, and efficient! He would be way across the restaurant and looking and nodding to make sure we were good, even from afar when I would pick my head up and he thought I needed something. From now on, it’s this location for me! Only negative is street parking, of course.

We arrived before any rush on a Friday morning. I ordered the fried catfish and grits. It was served lukewarm to cool. It definitely still tasted good, but it shouldn't have been "cooling off" enough that I assumed it was left to sit for a while before being served to me. Still, all other items were tasty - pancakes, sausages, drinks. Very nice bartender and waitress. They made sure a few of our drinks were made just the way we requested. We enjoyed a long leisurely morning here in this neat old bank building. Oh, and the biscuits - they are huge and tasty! I love biscuits :)

Visited here end of Feb and were fortunate not to have to stand in line as is often the case daily so go early!! We ordered from the breakfast menu opting for shrimp boogaloo and my hubby had the trifecta, they are eggs benedicts dishes and are very good although very large. We struggled to eat all of ours but would highly recommend as very tasty! Had coffee and juice and cost was around £40 which is a lot for breakfast. New Orleans is expensive and that was without the tip too!! Was an experience and if you like large meals it’s a must even at the cost!

If you need a peaceful and delicious brekkie at 7:30 am this is your place. Fabulous southern treats with sublime service and a cozy neighborhood vibe. We shared beignets and pulled pork biscuits consumed with endless cups of great coffee.

The food here is AMAZING. Beyond the food the staff were so nice. It really was the best example of southern hospitality I have ever had and then coolest experience. I went in the second day in a row because it was so good and the owner remembered me like I was a local or family. The staff were smiling and there was a lively vibe full of laughs. There was no wait and even on Saturday the wait was under 5 mins around 11am. Charles is the owner and he is a genuine person. Please check this place out. I recommend the French toast bites as a appetizer. I ordered the lemon blueberry French toast two days in a row and breakfast tacos on the 3rd day. My friend got their biscuits and gravy and they were authentic and delicious. I am craving them right now.

I am a foodie and when I go to New Orleans I love to try new restaurants. It was HIGHLY recommended for me to try Ruby Slipper and I selected this location so I can see more of the City. My party of 8 enjoyed everything and we each ordered different dishes so we can try out one another's entrees. The service was wonderful and Food was FANTASTIC!! If you are a fan of bacon, my recommendation is to try the candy bacon. The candy bacon is one of many reasons I will soon return to this restaurant and to the City of New Orleans.

My waiter, John, was very friendly and kept checking in on me to ensure my coffee cup was filled up and I was enjoying my breakfast. I had the Southern Breakfast with the fruit cup; biscuit was very moist and the cane syrup butter and strawberry jam topped it off perfectly. Other guests were raving about the bennies so definitely worth considering those as well. Very good value for money compared to other breakfast restaurants I ate in during my stay in New Orleans.

Faubourg Marigny
Nestled between the French Quarter and the Ninth Ward, the Faubourg Marigny environs are largely residential. Of course, folks around here love to go out and have a good time as much as they do anywhere in NOLA. And if out-of-towners want to join in the festivities, well then so much the better! Home to some of the most revered live music venues in New Orleans, an eclectic gaggle of gourmand dining destinations, and a come-as-you-are vibe that’s as infectious as it is alluring, this is real deal New Orleans oozing with southern hospitality and the promise of a most epic night out. For endless opportunities to boogie, to admire row upon row of lovingly restored homes, and to escape the fray of the more touristic parts of town (but still live it up in grand style) head to Faubourg Marigny.
