Its nice restaurant. We went because we really wanted to have NON-fried food while in N.O. and not necessarily expensive or in the FQ. Ordered 4 dishes and all were tasty and interestingly prepared. We loved the meatballs so much we ordered them again. We'll be back next time in N.O.

This is a high quality restaurant, which is needed in this part of town. The dishes are absolutely unique and delicious. Try the pork shrimp balls and the peppers stuffed with goat cheese. The entrée salads are fantastic. Highly recommended.

Need a great place for pizza? Real pizza? Italian style pizza? Thin crust pizza? Mondo is the place. Brick oven. 900 degrees. Our table had three basil/tomato/mozzarella thin crust pizzas. Heaven! Kyle was our wait-person. Totally professional. Very popular. Go on the off-hour, off day. Not cheap. But great value given the quality.

I am a huge fan of a Susan Spicer. Her restaurant, Bayona has always been fantastic. My first visit to Mondo, however, was not quite as good. The appetizer we started with included a trout spread and a pimento cheese spread on crackers that was amazing. The trout spread was really great. Chef Spicer has a subtle way with combining... I have enjoyed dinner at Mondo but it was always a frenetic experience. For some reason we were always there when it was very busy. Today's lunch was a calm, casual delight. Choosing wine or a signature adult beverage from the inventive list would've been fabulous but my dining companion and I had work to do which precluded adult beverages.... More

We enjoyed dinner at Susan Spicer's neighborhood restaurant Mondo with two other couples last night. Because I love Bayona, I knew we would enjoy the food. We began the meal with appetizers of a cheese topped ciabatta and then the warm Gorgonzola ciabatta with almonds. Both were delicious. My husband and I shared one of their special pizzas and the... Monday 8-22-2016 dinner. This place is very good. We started with the tuna and pimento spread which is delicious. We also had the goat cheese stuffed in peppapew. Both are apps and I highly recommend it. For dinner I had a wood fired pizza and my buddy had the pork shoulder. Both of us cleaned our plate. This place is... More

This is famed New Orleans chef Susan Spicer's new restaurant. It is more casual and family oriented than her original, Bayona. The food is just as excellent, but less expensive and formal

Staying in Lakeview

Neighbourhood Profile
Lakeview extends inland from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain with much of the area reserved for family-friendly City Park. Home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and the city’s own lush Botanical Gardens, City Park is a New Orleans gem and the perfect spot for outdoor fun with as much of a mix of culture and/or amusement as you would like. Beyond City Park more great excuses to stay outside beckon, whether on land or by boat. Developed a good deal later than most other New Orleans neighborhoods, Lakeview has a distinctively different look and feel compared to other parts of the city. Fans of mid century modern design and contemporary architecture particularly enjoy leisurely drives around the residential streets of Lake Vista, Park Island and along Lakeshore Drive.
