For a restaurant that has been around since 1971, I had never been to this long time establishment in the Lakeview area. I ended up being pleasantly surprised and thought to myself, I could come here again. The restaurant and bar area are spacious, with just the right amount of subdued lighting I like in a restaurant. We went in... More

Best aged beef steak in town. Nice accompaniments, a la carte. Expensive. No parking except what you find on street.

Fifth or 6th time here. Bring graduates of my supervision. Steaks are alway consistently good . Order the porterhouse and have left overs for 2 more meals. Sides are classically done. Pricey but worth it (business expense).

First I have to suggest you taxi, uber or choose valet parking because the parking is a mess. It's right across the street from another popular restaurant and add in the other little stores/shops/restaurants/coffee places and parking on Harrison is a nightmare. We've been here several times and have never been disappointed. The back room is the best place to... More

If your looking for the big chain steak house this is not it. The atoms sphere here is tasteful and very well appointed without being overly manly and dark. The bar is always packed with locals and the bar tenders very knowledgeable . While the steaks are very good, I highly recommend the Fish Robert (sauce on the side) and... More

We booked a reservation for 4 on a weekend night. Parking is a bit tricky as this neighborhood is very busy. We didn't know valet parking is available. We know this now. We were seated promptly. The dining are is large and was full, but not so noisy that we couldn't hear each other. Our waiter appeared promptly , took... More

Steak Knife is a great neighborhood restaurant with a nice atmosphere. It is consistently good. the steaks are delicious and come sizzling to the table. The fried shrimp are large and very good. Gulf Fish Robert always a good choice.

Went on Tuesday night. Only 2 couples and my husband and I. Didn't have vegetable medley so asked for sautéed spinach. Couldn't do. Could only do green beans and potatoes. Asked for mgr. was too busy to come out. Asked again for substitution or we would leave. The waiter came out with the bill. How horrible that the manager was... More

While my wife enjoyed a perfectly prepared filet, I opted for the Gulf Fish "Robert" fresh fish (speckled trout) filet, pan sautéed and topped with lumped crabmeat and mushrooms and a beurre blanc sauce. "Robert" is the chef and one of the owners, along with his brother, who prepares the wonderful dishes. It was excellent. The speckled trout was very... More

Staying in Lakeview

Neighbourhood Profile
Lakeview
Lakeview extends inland from the shores of Lake Pontchartrain with much of the area reserved for family-friendly City Park. Home to the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, and the city’s own lush Botanical Gardens, City Park is a New Orleans gem and the perfect spot for outdoor fun with as much of a mix of culture and/or amusement as you would like. Beyond City Park more great excuses to stay outside beckon, whether on land or by boat. Developed a good deal later than most other New Orleans neighborhoods, Lakeview has a distinctively different look and feel compared to other parts of the city. Fans of mid century modern design and contemporary architecture particularly enjoy leisurely drives around the residential streets of Lake Vista, Park Island and along Lakeshore Drive.
