NOLA is a city where good food is abundant and even great food is easily accessible, however Mr. John's is one of the standouts. We had a party of five and our feast included appetizers of BBQ Shrimp, Remoulade Shrimp, and Crab Cake all wonderful - but you won't believe how good the Who Dat Shrimp is! A must. We... More

We come to Mardi Gras every year and for my birthday present my GF took me and a local friend for dinner. We were not disappointed. Excellent food and service had the Porterhouse for two. IMHO the wine list needs to be updated with more Italian varietals but you can more than find something to pair with.

Took a client to Mr. John's, old time ambience, very good service and food that made the taxi ride from the French Quarter worth it - especially during a Mardi Gras parade. If you want something away from the French Quarter, with a restaurant that throws you back a few decades (in a good way) - Mr. John's is the... More

Terrible terrible service, rude manager. DO NOT GO TO MR JOHN'S. Went there for a birthday. Had reservations for a window table for 2 months. The restaurant confirmed these reservations in advance. We get to the restaurant and were not seated by the window, and two window tables were open and available. We informed the manager about this. The manager... More

This spot is right next to the Pontchetrain Hotel and offers delicious steaks and more. Two of us happily split the delicious Porterhouse and added the delicious Bearnaise sauce - highly recommended

We went out looking for a good steak dinner. Having eaten at a few steak places, we had a general idea of what we were looking for. The steaks were cooked correctly, and from read the reviews we knew that the plates would come out with the butter still sizzling. It smelled fantastic, however about halfway through the steak, the... More

We went to Mr. Johns for my wife's Birthday. My steak was ok but my wife's was bad. The waiter pushed a bottle of wine on us without a price. We got the bill and it was huge. We would never go back or recommend this restaurant. Bad food, service and price. I recommend go to Emeril's.

Thank mark f

Staying in Garden District

Neighbourhood Profile
Garden District
Head to the Garden District for the full-on New Orleans experience replete with quaintly clanking streetcars, proudly grandiose antebellum mansions, picture perfect avenues lined with live oaks loaded down with Spanish moss, and a wealth of beautiful churches and many more architectural marvels. Even a brief excursion here makes plain why it’s called the Garden District. So, when you visit be sure to give yourself ample time for admiration at a languidly slow pace befitting such gentile strand of riverside living and to allow you to maximize each opportunity to stop and smell the roses – and whichever other blooms you might come across. While taking it all in, you’d do well to dine at one of the city’s most beloved destinations for regional cuisine. Gourmands from far and wide (and right round the corner) swear the age-old Commander’s Palace is the best restaurant in town – and have been doing so since it opened back in 1880.
