Knew from reviews that you had to pass by the doors to the restaurant and go up a little alley next door which let you onto a courtyard and the host for seating. Lovely atmosphere and things continue to a memorable meal. Well worth a...More

After having taken about a million trips to NOLA I finally found heaven...a spectacular yet moderately priced restaurant. Sylvain at 625 Chartres St. is the promised land of dining. Attentive service, a cool atmosphere and Lordy, Lordy the food. From now on, Sylvain is my...More

Oh my goodness! I'm so happy that our original plans to dine somewhere else failed. This restaurant was awesome! Traditional, classic New Orleans....old, outside courtyard, uneven pavement, friendly service, and DELICIOUS food! Holy smokes! We enjoyed the "Braised beef cheeks" (making my mouth water as...More

We had an ok meal at Sylvain, but to be honest there are much better places to eat in New Orleans. For a start the hostess was extremely rude, we were 15 mins early and she clearly let us know we would have to wait...More

This little chef run restaurant is a gem. The best food in town. We had the beef cheeks and pappardelle. The beet salad was wonderful as well. Can't say enough about this wonderful place... we were so full we could not do dessert.

Except for the dessert the meal was a fiasco. 1.We called to change the reservation to a later time; they would not; as we left the restaurant was 33% or more empty. No points for flexibility. 2. The hostess seated us and took our water...More

Love the atmosphere of this restaurant/bar. Even though the weather didn't permit us to eat outdoors, the inside atmosphere was great. The menu featured a good selection of grits and eggs, burgers, and pasta dishes. The bar has a great selection of cocktails. I tried...More

My wife and I dined at Sylvain on February 28th at 6 pm. It was a great disappointment. After having had great meals in New Orleans with our kids and in-laws primarily at more well known establishments based on recs from Eater.com and James Beard...More

Everything was great The southern antipasti appetizer was great as was the fried eggplant The atmosphere is quaint and there is indoor seating and outdoor courtyard seating as well. Better for smaller groups of 2 to 6.

We do not have a dress code, and you are free to come in anything you are comfortable in. We do keep the AC going indoors, so bring a sweater if it rains!
