We went to Royal House instead of another oyster bar on the recommendation of the hotel concierge. It did not have the same feel as other traditional oyster bars. We ordered a dozen oysters. They were flavorable. Also ordered a burger, medium rare. It arrived well done. Cindy, the bartender, quickly responded and requested another from the kitchen. 2nd one... More

We went for lunch today and we had a lovely meal! Leroy was our waiter and he was outstanding ! He suggested things to have! The Blackberry lemonades were the nicest drinks we have had in New Orleans! We had the crab claws which are delicious and then we had a shrimp po boy and blackened chicken sandwich!! Yum!

We got here at a great time so there was no line (sometimes there is a huge line to get a table), food was ready in a bit and it was just wonderful, best oysters I have ever had, and my favorite is Shrimp and grits, omg I would die for that. I'll come back every time just for those... More

First time in NO, had a fabulous visit! The service was incredible; our server Ariel was so personable and engaging! Food was good, but the service made a Birthday dinner outstanding. Thank you, Ariel! Mesmerizing Eyes and company.

We visited the Royal House this evening for dinner. Our waiter was Aaron who really made our whole dining experience fantastic! Quick, attentive service - spot on recommendations on the menu. They Rockefeller Oysters were tasty but be sure you save room for the bread pudding!! Simply scrumptious :)

They have the best bloody mary in the quarter with their infused veggie garnish and cajun season rimmed glass. Love sitting on the balcony to watch the street scene below. Excellent charbroiled oysters and crab bisque. Always one of my stops when visiting the Quarter.

This restaurant is amazing, chargrilled oysters are heaven and the spinach artichoke dip was great, we tried the oyster royal which had a seafood stuffing but we found the chargrilled oysters better.

Big Easy means slow service. I mean really slow service. Friendly, but slow service. Royal House has awards posted on the walls naming it the largest employer of all New Orleans restaurants. This is clearly true, as there were more servers than customers when we popped in for oysters around 3pm on a weekday. The problem with too many staff... More

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
