After much hype from our concierge about this being a John Besh restaurant I really expected something special. Food was average at best and service was sub par. I have never in my life paid for bread and butter, but I ordered it anyway because I expected something really tasty. What we got was flavorless bread. Short rib was bland... More

For every visit to Nola a must stop for a quick bite! Dishes are superb, cost is reasonable and unassuming. This chef does amazing things from common ingredient and humble preparations

Domenica was delicious! The staff was wonderful and the food was amazing. I had the Calabrese pizza, fried kale, roasted cauliflower and lasagne....the lasagne was my favorite lasagne of all times and the kale was amazing! I loved the taste of the pizza and how thin the crust was. My husband and I shared one pizza and they let you... More

We lived in southern Italy for 3 years and this is the closest we have come to matching the pizza we loved there. The Prosciutto with arugula, mozzarella and tomato was perfect. Very little tomato sauce, fresh cheese on a perfectly crisped crust with a layer of arugula and prosciutto spread on top after it came out of the authentic... More

We showed up on a Friday around 2:15PM without reservations, and the hostess said they couldn't seat our party of 8 until 4:30 at the earliest. Granted, it's at the Waldorf, so maybe they legitimately had other reservations, but we stuck around a bit and said we could do 4 and 4. After some persuasion, we were seated (but split... More

The food was delicious! However the pasta portions seemed on the small side. The pizza was huge! Everything was very good though. It did take a long time for the food to come out. But everything was incredible otherwise.

We were staying a block away and tried to get in for dinner on a Saturday night without success. So when we noticed they have a happy hour each day from 2-5, we stopped by for half price pizza and wine by the glass. What a deal! The place was not that crowded. Our waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. We... More

I think that my expectations were just too high. While I thought the food was very good, it was not exceptional or unique. I did go for lunch, which could be part of the problem. Charging $20 for a large head of cauliflower that was slightly seasoned and slightly under cooked, is ridiculous. The pizza was really good and our... More

I ate here 4 times on my trip to New Orleans. They have a happy hour 2-5, half off wine, drinks and pizza. I had a phenomenal clam pizza and also you must try the fried kale salad in a light chickpea batter with shaved onions, pinenuts and lightly dressed in a light vinaigrette. They also have house made salumis... More

I had one hour between meetings on a very busy Sunday afternoon. Made reservations, (recommended), and was seated and served promptly. Food was excellent and the service and wine selection very good. Would love to eat there again.

Domenica is a contemporary and inviting Italian restaurant that creates regional Italian dishes with southern and middle eastern influences. The cuisine combines Chef Alon Shaya's Israeli heritage and love of local ingredients with a menu that reflects his time spent cooking and living in the small towns of northern Italy.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
