A great place to eat. Make sure you make reservations because it is small. There homemade pasta is out of this world. Pork Chop was cook perfectly. Service was outstanding. On the way to our table one of our meals was dropped. The manager quickly came over and apologized. Four minutes later the meal was served. They even through in... More

This was our second dinner in New Orleans and again the food was excellent. Service was also very friendly. Only the prize was a big shock for "just" and Italian restaurant. We had to pay over 200 dollars for just a basic dinner.

I can't tell you how much my husband and I love this amazing place! The numerous times we have had the pleasure of dining here (at least 6 years and counting) there has never been a bad meal or service. We loved the intimate small place it was but the transformation into a larger dining room has been seamless... The... More

My wife and I ate there last night and the service and food were great! Fresh baked bread and everything was well presented. Very nice Italian restaurant. You will not be disappointed!

After a long day of activities we decided to have dinner here basically because it was close to our hotel & the reviews didn't really provide a reason to seek an alternative (the other possible option didn't accept reservations). Bottom line: nice atmosphere with mediocre Italian fare at exaggerated (New Orleans) prices, plus question marks: tiramisu served half-frozen (explanation: that's... More

First time here since the new renovations and we are sad to taste the flavor is gone with the former vibe this spot used to have. We spent $160 for what tasted like store bought Mac and Cheese parading as a more expensive dish. Chicken Parm that you could find at most high school cafeterias and bruschetta that seemed to... We celebrated my birthday at the Italian Barrel. What a wonderful, intimate meal. Yes, it was pricey, but it was a special occasion, and the food was over the top! My husband and friend had the daily special, a stuffed bone in veal chop. It was cooked perfectly and the creamy mushroom and cheese stuffing was an added bonus. I... More

Came here on the recommendation of a friend and it didn't disappoint! The cheese plate was filled with generous portions of true Italian cheeses (pecorino, Gorgonzola) and a variety of condiments like fig compote and onion mustard sauce made it even more delicious. The entrees were good and the wine list was both reasonable in price and covered the gamut... More

My wife and I ate at the Italian Barrel recently. The food and service was great. I had the Osso Bucco and my wife had a double cut porkchop. The restaurant is one block off of Esplanade avenue on Barracks st. Very cozy and authentic Italian restaurant. Would highly reccomend for a special occasion.

This is a wonderful restaurant and Josh was just delightful. I will say that it is quite pricey, but very delicious. My only other negative comment is that it feels more uppety than warm. In other words it feels a bit snobbish for it's location. But the food is very good.

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
