I had low expectations since it was the only restaurant outside of the shopping area. The food was excellent! Service was a little relaxed, but we've found that to be the norm in NOLA. The live music was decent too - not too loud or overwhelming. We will be back here!

We had not so much time, because we were taking the cruise tour, and we order the big everything, with lobster, oysters, clams, sausage, potatoes, corn. It wasn´t bad, but I was expecting something more tasty. Service was good

We went here by chance, we came off a cruise ship and felt peckish and this was in a great location right by the water. We had oysters and they were excellent, the best we'd had in New Orleans. We also had key lime pie but as nice as it tasted it was not the real deal. Service was very... More

This is a nice spot. It did seem pricey for what we received. Also you need to mention to your server up front if you have a Groupon. We are not used to that back home even though it says it on every Groupon. The server was very gracious and took care of it for us anyway. The atmosphere seemed... More

We had to have had the worst waitress in history! The restaurant was slightly busy, but nowhere near full. The waitress took a very long time to even initially appear at our table for drink orders. She never told us the special (which looked really good when we saw others with theirs). She then disappeared & did not return even... More

Hi Midsouth Social - we are so disappointed to hear about very slow and unhelpful service you received while dining with us at Crazy Lobster. We always aim to provide our guests with quick, friendly and attentive service, but it sounds like we definitely missed the mark since you had to wait so long for food, drinks, and other help... The Crazy Lobster is located right off the Mississippi River. We ate here for my birthday while visiting New Orleans. The food was very good. I recommend the Shrimp and Catfish Platter. My wife ordered the Coconut Shrimp and was less impressed because they looked and tasted like boxed frozen shrimp. The server quickly replaced here order with the Shrimp... More

Ordered the Po boy Fried Shrimp and bowl of gumbo. Both were very bland and surely not worth the money. The waiter took our order, brought our food, and disappeared from our table. Another waitress asked him to bring our bill. Only 10 tables were full--the restaurant was not busy. I would recommend everyone go elsewhere even for a quick... More

Keith639, I am so sorry to hear that you received slow service at Crazy Lobster even while the restaurant wasn't busy. We're also very sorry to hear you did not enjoy the flavor of the po boy or gumbo. We pride our selves in serving fresh and flavorful NOLA cuisine, but it sounds like that is not what you experienced... More

If you are looking for a meal and not much else, this is the place. The food is not bad, but it is nothing special either. We were at a time where we just got off the ferry and we were spent and hungry. Therefore, Poppy's served a purpose and got us back to touring the city. The portions are... More

This is a good restaurant on the river where Canal meets the river front. It's between the mall and aquarium. I ordered a house favorite (pasta orleans) I really enjoyed it. My wife ordered the fried seafood platter, but it was good, but the pasta meals looked better. Nice place to take kids. They had music, good and drinks, with... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
