No visit to NOLA is complete without a pit stop here for cafe au lait and beignets. First time for those powdery pillows of delishous-ness was just a snack....next time was for breakfast! Oh......and order your own....sharing an order isn't an option, as we found out! They are tooo good! Service was quick on both occasions as the weather was... More

Fast service , hot food, yummy hot chocolate. We went after we spent the night in Bourbon street. They were cleaning and getting ready for the morning. Service was quick, friendly, and fast.

Beignets are delicious! Expect crowds, especially on the weekends. They have a carry out window if you would prefer, and there are many great spots close by. Jackson square, the waterfront, French Market, are all within a very close walking distance and all have park benches and other places to sit. Don't be stressed if you can't sit at the... More

A real NoLa experience! Find your self a place under their canopy and order beignets with cafe au lait. Soft milky coffee and some warm, tasteful beignets ( we would call them 'smoutebollen' but their prepared different) with sweet and sticky powder sugar. They are really not expensive.I had beignets in one other place (Morning call at the park). I... More

Delicious coffee and hot beignets absolutely covered in powered sugar. Like a snow-covered mountain range of sweetness. Not to be missed when you are in NOLA. Walk-in find a table and a server will be by soon to take your order from the very limited menu. If you're looking to put on pounds, this carb fest will do the trick!

One MUST be able to say that they went to the Cafe Du Monde to have a beignet and coffee. There were six of us who went and enjoyed every bite. Here's a couple of tips. There seemed to be a line when we went, but found out quickly that there was no line. You just wait until someone gets... More

Never disappoints. Don't wait to be seated just hop on the next free table you see come up. An order of beignets comes with 3. Cafe au lait and the beignets and you're set. Cash only.

If you're in NO, you've got to go here for coffee au lait and beignets. Both are delicious. If it's not already a tradition, it'll become one. It's crazy crowded during peak hours with a loooong line for blocks, so it's better to go at an off hour. (They're open 24/7.) We went "early morning" ... about 8-8:30 and got... More

Coffee and beignet, quick service and great spot for people watching. Plus it is open 24 hours! We make sure to stop at least once.

There's nothing better than cafe au lait and beignets at Cafe Du Monde. It's inexpensive and has great street musicians! We come here every time we come to New Orleans! It's a must!

Staying in French Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
French Quarter
A small and teeming network of laissez-faire living lounged out on the balmy banks of the Mighty Mississippi, the French Quarter has long been a port of call for folks in search of a good time and a great story. Perpetually inebriated Bourbon Street runs across its midriff like a strand of cheap ribbon tied around an otherwise rather pretty and impressively well-kept vintage dress. Throughout the rest of the Quarter, brightly colored Victorian homes and businesses, famously done up with wrought-iron features, provide a distinct and immediately recognizable backdrop for all varieties of fun. At any given moment in this historic riverside setting, some of America’s finest meals are being cooked, most potent cocktails are being mixed, and most engaging music is being performed.
