I was recommended to visit this hidden gem by a friend of mine who grew up in Nosara. I went by last year and was welcomed by the sweetest couple who were the owners, we stayed for cocktails and food. The patacones, frijoles and guac...are a must. I remember the ceviche being fresh, and I expect no less seeing as the fishermen boats are parked just out front. Heads up- washrooms are sketch. Sunset will escape you if you remain in the cabanas, so head down to the white sand beach for that. Watch out for scorpios in the foliage under the trees! although their sting is considered powerful medicine by some locals, its an uncomfortable experience.. to say the least. There is a fish market not far from here along the main road where I purchased a 2kg red snapper and sea bass for $6 each. Simply majestic.More

We've eaten lunch here several times. If you want to eat breakfast, make a reservation, as it is only served to guest of the hotel, or be prepared to wait. Service is friendly. View of San Juanillo harbor is pretty. One day the monkeys put...on a show for us!More

The food here is beyond fabulous. We are staying at the hotel Cocobolo and we have eaten many breakfasts and dinners at this restaurant. Everything is delicious. We have eaten whole red snapper, chicken kebab, grilled mahi mahi , arroz con pollo, fajitas and more....The flavoring and quality of the cooking is 5 stars. Everything comes with grand portions , wonderful potatoes, or rice and a hearty salad . You sit at outdoor handmade wooden tables under a shady hut and watch the ocean and the waves crashing against the rocks. The prices are reasonable, the menu varied and the service is truly the BEST we have ever had. The waitstaff Jocelyn and Izak are cheerful, friendly and just want to please the customers. If you are in the area, come here and eat. You will be so happy you did. Merle and Jerry SternbergMore

A small beach bar with around six tables dotted along a slope above the beach. The food is good, service is friendly.

The pizza and drinks were great. Taking a break from the beach we went and had a pizza and a couple drinks. The service and advice from the workers was amazing. They went out of there way for us and made us feel at home....Can't wait to return.More

We visited Rancho Cocobolo two times in June 2018 while traveling with our family (four kids ages 4-11) and again when we returned in November as a couple. The location is fantastic with great ocean views and a calm vibe. The kids loved the pizzas...and American fare. We loved the chicken and beef casados (the chicken is outstanding). The service is not as fast as you get in the States, but you're not in the States! Loved the opportunity to slow down and enjoy a good meal with family (and of course beautiful San Juanillo beach).More

Customer Service ZERO. After buying 7 ceviches, calamari, greek salad and a large pizza, when we were to return the disposables (which we pay extra for) the Manager in a very bad manner did not wanted to accept it. Quite a green sustainable guy.

Tables are placed in the side of a hill, overlooking San Juanillo harbor. Trees provided shade and there was a cool breeze. My husband and I ordered fish casados, which were average. Portions were large. Our friends ordered pizza, which they said was excellent. We'll...go back again for pizza.More
