We were here for a cooking demo and lunch as part of a World Spree Bali tour. Wonderful staff, the best Balinese food of the tour, wonderful dance presentation. This was one of the tour highlights for sure.

Balinese Food, enriched with spices and flavours was on the agenda on a day trip to Rumah Desa (meaning house in the village) to participate in a Balinese cooking class and rice field adventures. Located in the tranquil village of Bargu in the Marga district of Tabanan, Rumah Desa is a good couple of hours by car from Jimbaran. First... More

We ate lunch here before we had the cooking class, and our meal was delicious so we had high expectations for a good class. We started by looking at/smelling the different spices which was fun. We then chopped up the ingredients for the basic pasted and grated them in this large flat mortar and a pestle. (Different from the deep... More

This cooking class was recommended by a foodie friend and it was as good as she said. We were collected from our hotel in Ubud and drove for an hour through Balinese countryside to Rumah Desa. It is in a beautifully presented traditional compound with a lovely garden. Our group of four were the only participants so we were fortunate... More

This is one of my favorite! When you come to someplace, you shouldn't just enjoy your hotel, pool, restaurant, shops, clubs or any other 'artificial' places. You should see the original culture. Open your eyes on how local people actually live their life. Here we learned about original Balinese way of life. How they cook, how they pray, how they... More

We took the 21 course cooking class, which was absolutely wonderful! We were very lucky to be the only ones booked in, so we had the market tour, the very friendly and welcoming hosts and the entire kitchen all to ourselves. Explanations and instructions were very clear, and since it was just the two of us, we actually prepared all... More

Absolutely fabulous day we had at Rumah Desa Balinese Home and Cooking School. Picked up from Sanur then headed to the local market for a guided tour then onto Rumah Desa where we were greeted by the beautiful Balinese staff who welcomed us with a cold drink and a short talk about the history of the place. Wayan the chef... More
