This basement/ below ground restaurant has an historic background. Lots of political business was conducted here, and President Harry Truman frequented the restaurant. A nice salad bar and varied menu are offered. The turkey Reuben sandwich can't be beat, and there is no extra charge for sweet potato fries. Specials are offered during the week, and the tenderloins are well... More

Had a great meal, great service. Great salad bar - which is very hard to find. In general, a very pleasant experience and I will be back. Worth a try!

I absolutely LOVE this restaurant! I've never had anything I didn't totally adore. Their salad bar is so so so good and the biscuits are icing on the cake. Brisket Mac and Cheese, onion rings, tenderloin, desserts...all crazy good! It's a little diamond in the rough. Very reasonably priced and the amount of food you get will give you a... More

The have a small salad bar which is a plus for us. The tenderloin is huge. The service was wonderful. Did not have to wait long and the food was excellent. I would definitely go back there again if ever in Independence.

I will be honest, my feelings seem to be the exception and not the rule. I visited on St. Patrick's day specifically looking for corned beef. We were escorted to a table in the back where it was quite noisy. Again as a disclaimer, it was St. Patrick's day but the noise was from crying children. My plate was cold... More

We live close to the square and the Courthouse Exchange is our Go To restaurant! Great sandwiches and fries! Terrific salad bar and soup or whatever you are in the mood for....their food will hit the spot! My family loves the fried dill pickles, queso and chips, Ruebens, burgers, French and sweet potato fries, everything is good and dessert too!... More

Prompt friendly service and excellent dependable food that brings locals back time and again. The Raspberry Tea was delicious if somewhat sweet. Fish and chips was fish sticks but we are some distance from the ocean. The chips were fresh and crisp, the portion of tartar sauce generous and the cole slaw acceptable. Cherry pie a-la-mode came with three scoops... More

I know most people don't care for chicken livers but this place has THE BEST ever! Their chicken fried steak is also great. This is the only restaurant I've ever been to that gets close to me thinking I'm eating at my grandmas house. The best home cooking around!

This little bar restaurant is hidden on Independence Square. It is a favorite haunt for the lawyers and judges as it is near the courthouse. The sandwiches are excellent.

I had heard good reviews about the Court House Exchange for some time, so my wife and I decided to try it out. We were not disappointed. I had the turkey Reuben and it was delicious. My wife had the chicken and although the portion was too much for her, I helped her finish it off for lunch the following... More
