2 friends and I at James Cook Sports Bar. We ordered: 3 beers, 3 waters, 1 coffee, 1 coke, 1 burger, 1 breakfast, the big bowl of chips, and chicken wings....and were then told that we didn't order enough. I - as a woman -...felt uncomfortable with the owner glaring at our table for an hour. So, I left. I was THAT uncomfortable. Then the owner then confronted my friends, said he had been "watching" us (yep, I knew it), and told my friends they didn't order enough and they should order a beer or leave. We were there for maybe 1.25 hours and ordered beers, appetizers, beverages, and full meals. And were still not welcome. Sure, we aren't pisshead alcoholics. We shower. Drink in moderation. Use napkins. I get it. Not the kind of customer James Cook Sports Bar wants in their establishment. So remember: Bule Women, you're not welcome in the boys club here. Boys, don't drink water here. Copious amounts of beer only. CheerslMore

Every time I come here I have a great time. Whether it's watching rugby, having a good pub feed, or just relaxing with the bar flies, it's the perfect place to relax. I highly recommend to everyone.

I’ve visited James Cook sports bar a few times over the past month. I’ve never had anything but outstanding customer service and the food has been superb every time. Having witnessed the described event, I couldn’t agree more with the management. Don’t take best seat...in the house, and share a water between two people on a busy day. To James Cook and staff, thanks for everything, see you again soon.More

Honestly if I could give this place 0 stars I would after today's experience. I live around the corner from this " Sports Bar " and like to come here for lunch or the fights occasionally. Today I showed up early around 10AM to watch...some boxing and get a seat since I had a few friends coming through who wanted to try the place out. We had lunch/breakfast and a few beers. water. coke etc - The usual stuff you would get at a pub watching fights. Right before the main fight starts " Wilder vs Fury 2 " the owner comes up to my table and says to me and my friends " You got the best seat in the house and you want to watch the big fight and not order anything " then he goes on to tell me I need to leave unless I spend more money and that hes been watching me. I told him I had actually eaten twice and been ordering drinks and food for the last two hours as had my friends + gave up every other seat on the table we weren't using. Apparently if you don't show up 5 minutes before the big fight and just order 2 beers your not a paying customer. I'm never going back to this place and as long as I live here ill make sure my friends know to never go here either. To the owner: I don't care that you were drinking and watching fights and missed the fact that myself and friends had ordered stuff for hours, but you need to learn how to treat people better if you want anyone to show up when there isn't a pay per view on.More

We went for lunch and the food was very good. It was as good as any pub / bistro food in Australia. The prices are cheap. The staff service is outstanding. This is easily the best sports bar we have been to outside of Singapore...in SE Asia. Yep - big call but true!More

Was chasing somewhere nearby to watch the cricket on boxing day. Found this pub full of Aussies, had a good yarn and a few beers while the kiwis got smashed around. Food was really really good as well. Had a chicken pie and a pasta...ariabata which had a sensational peppery tomato sauce. Great place to hang out watch sports, eat and drink.More

Our family had the pleasure of having a couple of meals here on our recent trip to Bali. Staying just 2klms down the road we found the Bar a great spot to sit, relax and catch just about any live sport you could imagine. Playing...pool out the back while listening to some great Aussie tunes. The food was well priced and tasted great. Couldn’t fault the place. Would return next time we visit for sure.More

James Cook Sports Bar (JCSB) is a fantastic bar/restaurant very close to where I stay at Umulas. On my several visits over the past 10 days or so, they have continued to provide their always excellent service and fun atmosphere. The chicken/salads buffet served on...Melbourne Cup Day was fresh, the food plentiful, and the staff very attentive in maintaining the food. On each and every occasion that I visit JCSB the service, food and refreshments are always top notch.More
