I love that this place is all about pound cakes (espresso drinks are also there in case you need to balance out the sweetness). The cake is fluffy and light, and the bottom is perfectly crispy. I tried the vanilla pound cake, but I was seriously tempted by the amazing array of other cakes on display--banana pudding pound cake, cherry... More

Love the variety of flavors. Have never been disappointed. A little pricey at >$4.50/slice but worth the occasional splurge.

we are from charlotte and my wife loves this place...Anytime we are in the area we stop by. Really great pound cake...However today we go in and there is a actual CHURCH service with praying and a preacher trying to sale her books. Not the place to have a church service. VERY VERY AWKWARD and strange... We would of course... More

There are two locations of tje sweet shop, one on Elm St. The other in Friendly center. I am not pleased wirh the location on Elm St. They have very few cakes out and many times I've had to wait for more to get done for more of a variety to choose from. Today my wife and I drove to... More

After visiting the International Civil Rights Museum and eating lunch we were ready for dessert. All of us wanted pound cake and down the street from the museum we found you! The choices and the taste was marvelous! Everyone enjoyed the pound cake. My sister lives in RDU area and said it would be worth the almost two hour drive... More

I had a chance to visit The Sweet Shop after participating in a marathon. The selection was awesome, the shop was so quaint and more importantly the cake was awesome! I bought 3 different flavors to travel back to Virginia with, banana pudding (which was recommended to me), pineapple/orange and sweet potato...I loved all 3! No I didn't eat all... More

On a Ten Scale the Pound Cake comes in at a Seven. While the cake is serviceable it is a little bit lacking in flavor and density, and, much too dry to be a Ten. And it's $48.00. We all know what goes into making a Pound Cake and there is not that much love and labor involved. Homemade or... More

If you're a lover of all things sweet, you certainly want to try this place. Perhaps this is the most variety I've ever seen of pound cakes (not to mention that the owner is very kind). So good... You'll want to slap your grandma!

One of my coworkers introduced me to the Sweet Shop a couple of years ago. She was nice enough to share a slice of her Banana Pudding Pound Cake with me and I was hooked from there! Most recently my husband ordered a cake for my birthday. He waited until the final hour to order the cake, but thank God... More

small place but the cakes are worth it. They have several types of pound cakes. One slice of cake was $ 3.50 but it was a good size piece of cake. It was warm and tasted just like the kind Grandma use to make. Everything they make is from scratch. You will leave feeling all warm and fuzzy like you... More
