A middle eastern eatery, only small but doing a roaring trade in takeaway meals. We chose to eat in. I had the vegetarian pizta (their spelling) and it was delicious. The crust was thin and melt in your mouth. The staff were pleasant yet unobtrusive and the meal was very reasonably priced. Yum!

This restaurant needs some makeover. The upholstery on the chairs were worn out. When we asked for extra plates, we were given a chipped plate. The Chicken ouzi was a disappointment. The filo pastry was dry and not flaky. The chicken meat tasted like leftovers

We visited this unassuming little place on 4th July while visiting nyc and Brooklyn. Staff were friendly, service was good and the food was delicious. The hummus was smooth and the pitta bread was fresh. We enjoyed it so much we ordered takeaway a couple of nights later and the standard of the food was still just as good. Will... More

We found several items on the menu that we've eaten before in Greek restaurants, but there was one item, chicken ouzi that I have never seen before. The dish came with a filo puff in the middle of a salad. I poked the puff to release some steam and found a fabulously delicious dish of chicken raisins, rice and spices.... More

We stopped by here for a light snack after arriving in NYC on a long haul flight. We shared a lamb pizza - was just we needed that night. It was nicely spiced and a bit different to the usual sort of pizza (no cheese!). Service was friendly.

Very good value price wise but partner had an upset stomach and while we enjoy the kind of food we couldn't take the risk of going back again.

I've been to Black Iris a handful of times after moving to Fort Greene almost a year ago - both sat down and take out. Their food is SO good - and I especially love their chicken kabob platter and their hummus. It's definitely my go-to for middle eastern food. There's a big dinner room, and some outdoor seatings (that... More

Our party of 3 were walk-ins on a recent evening. We delighted to find an extensive menu of Middle Eastern specialties which were made on premises! The stuffed grape leaves were fresh and delicious; the babaganoush was made of freshly grilled eggplant; the home made pita bread kept coming out. The lamb, foul, zataar bread and salads were also terrific.... More
