Went here with my son and we ordered 1 of each the vegan combination and meat combination meals. Never having Ethiopian food before, I wasn't sure what to expect. It came out on one large platter. Each dish was ladled on a large flat bread. I thought the meat dishes (sorry don't have the names) were rich and flavorful. Some... More

We decided to try Bati because of its proximity to Brooklyn Academy of Music and its reviews. Having been to several other Ethiopian restaurants in the city we were excited to try a new one. The room is small but pleasant but we were there on a rather cold night and since there is no vestibule, the dining room was... More

This is our favorite Ethiopian restaurant in New York. The food is delicious, spiced just right with the Ethiopian condiments that give this cuisine its distinctive flavor. Our favorite plate is the very generous vegetarian platter. It is like a a North African "mezza," an assortment of savory bean dishes, pureed or stewed in berebere spices. Imagine a Lebanese hummus... More

My daughter and I went to this restaurant on a Thursday night and the place was buzzing. We had the vegetarian combination platter which was delicious. I am a vegan and my daughter is a vegetarian and there was plenty of choice. I am from the UK visiting my daughter. It is the second time I have been here and... More

I arrived at this particular restaurant expecting to eat some good Ethiopian food and to experience a nice environment. Having had very good experiences from other Ethiopian restaurants across the country- I did not think for a moment that I would experience anything less than what I’ve come to love about Ethiopian cuisine. In addition I excitedly brought my sister... More

Planned to eat here prior to a Habs\Islander hockey game at Barclay Ctre. However due to traffic etc, was only able to eat after the game which normally is too late for us. Anyways since it was on our mind we got here about 10:30 (short walk from the Barclay Ctre). It's in a very nice, trendy walkable area so... More

Enjoyed our dinner at Balti. We had a sampler of a number of different foods, which were served on injeera (bread). We ordered a second helping of the injeera to finish the food. The restaurant was busy on the evening we went there, but service was good. Would be happy to go there again.

Great introduction to Ethiopian food for a guy who hasn't had much of it- and it seems pretty darn good even if you're used to that kind of fare. Flavors you've never tasted, very interesting, and delicious! They do everything right by any standard. Highly recommended.
